Thanks BrooklynMan for herding the cats!
Very true. And when my parents didn’t want me online anymore, rather than just coming in and asking me nicely to hop off while they make their phone call, they would click the hang up button repeatedly until the signal was lost and I was disconnected. Then they would make their phone call.
That's pretty huge, since they're probably the biggest subreddit.
Oh they were. Because they are us.
Yeah, I agree. I'm loving lemmy and haven't spent more than 10-15 min. on Reddit over the past week.
This means they're scared. It means we're winning.
Exactly. I feel like this is one of those instances of "We're spending time thinking about whether or not we could, when we should be thinking about whether or not we should."
So Reddit has decided to fight back, eh?
Mastodon is so much like a Twitter/Facebook replacement that I'm not even interested in it. Reddit/Lemmy's focus is not on broadcasting yourself but rather link aggregating and conversations about those links in the comments. It's always been so much better of a forum type of experience than Twitter/Mastodon/Facebook.
Unfortunately, no one can be told what the Matrix User is. They have to see it for themselves.
Statement From The Moderators Hello, r/antiwork! As you're probably aware, r/antiwork has been set to private until recently in solidarity with the sitewide protest against Reddit's attempt to kill third-party apps. At the start of the protest, we received assurance from Reddit administration that mods have a right to protest and to set their subs private. Today, we received a message from Reddit that our mod team will be replaced if we do not open up the subreddit immediately.
The important takeaway here is Reddit does not care about this community and Reddit does not care about you. They see you as nothing more than a statistic to monetize. They do not care about the quality of this community. They do not care about the desires of the community or the mod team. We set the subreddit private to protect the community from the changes Reddit intends to force through, and Reddit is forcing the subreddit open because a worse user experience for you is more profitable for them.
Going forward, the mod team is going to lose some very important tools that we've relied on to keep you safe from spammers and scammers. This means we're going to have to reassess our rules and procedures in order to serve you more effectively. The mod team will keep you updated on any developments. We thank you for your understanding.
Many thanks,
The r/antiwork mod team
You love to see it...
That's heavy, dude.
Since Apollo is accessibility-capable, does that mean it's exempted?
I also like the way that PixelFed explains the federated system: https://pixelfed.org/how-to-join
Agreed. No offense intended, but I really don't want to see furry stuff.
Aww, thanks!
I can only get so federect!
thanks for using Leebra!
