Wish the neighbours were a bit more subdued. Don't know for sure where they got their fireworks from, but suspect they may have come straight from Satan's asshole. Me and my wife are definitely part of the exhausted cohort of New Zealanders, so could've used the extra sleep.
That's not the impression I get at all.
She said she's taking a lead from Palestinian and Jewish peace activists. And the article has quotes from both Palestinian and Jewish representatives who see it simply as a call for freedom for an oppressed people, so that's a credible claim.
But the meaning behind what people say and how others interpret their words can be very different. It's pretty evident some people do take offense to the chant. And maybe the potential harm was more potent than any underlying good intent.
In the interview she gave with RNZ, she wasn't willing to say whether or not she would continue using the chant. Maybe she's reconsidering whether it's appropriate, and she's feel a bit whakama about the whole thing. But that's just as much conjecture as what you've said.
Anyway, my point is I don't think it's fair for you to act like this is some kind of deliberate attack.
Just saw on RNZ a story about a elderly gentleman up north that's lost pretty much everything in a house fire.
I don't know the guy at all, but have deep empathy for his situation. Beyond the loss of his home, beyond the loss of his taonga, it's just a deeply traumatic thing to go through.
He's got a givealittle setup, if anyone else feels the urge to donate.
Friends, I've discovered today is International Beer Day. It's on Wikipedia, so it's legit.
According to Wikipedia we can observe this noble day with such time honoured events as trivia nights, beer flights, and binge drinking.
I could hear ours rummaging around, discussing the letter left by Santa and the amount of presents, while I gradually came to. Was fully expecting them to rush in at some point to get us out of bed, but no. When I worked up the strength to get up, I found them both eating cereal, fully dressed, with their hair brushed. Little angels ♥️
Meri Kirihimete to our lovely little community.
Saw that the Tony Hawk's Pro Skater remake is on Steam now and bought it almost immediately.
I thought the moves would all come back to me like riding a bike, but I'm continuously embarrassing myself on the simplest moves - - like riding a skateboard.
On speaker recommendations, I'm a huge fan of my Edifier R1700BT speakers. They're a fantastic budget option, and can go for under $200 on sale. They have more cabling than a UE boom, but you could connect them to your PC via Bluetooth, and they sound gorgeous.
I'm also haircut averse.
I put it off until it starts looking untidy, then continue putting it off until my wife starts hinting that I ought to get a haircut, then continue putting it off until I think maybe I'll just start having long hair.
Then one day I wake up, and decide maybe I should get a cut. So I suffer the burden of having to actively decide what my hair should look like. And generally I'm pretty happy with the results. And I think, I should do this more often. And then the cycle repeats.
Ha, must've accidentally saved the post I abandoned at the playground. Was having a nice moment while the kids seemed content playing with some friends from school, but then noticed the oldest was getting a bit sulky, since their friends were playing more with the younger, so had to go back into dad mode.
Still, turned out to be a nice day. Played hide and seek at the playground, which I enjoyed more than I expected. Then got a bus into the city, loitered a bit, got some ice creams. Pretty lowkey, but I'd take it over being at the office.
This topic is not vaguely political. It's about a campaign promise from a political party.
If you disagree with him, that's okay. There's room for all sorts of views around here, I'm sure. It's a bit rude dismissing his views by saying he just seems angry though.
You could try foaming your milk using a french press.
Basically, you warm your milk up then put it in the french press, and repeatedly plunge it up and down until it foams up. Worked well with oat milk when I tried it.
Edit: this video gives a bunch of tips for imitating espresso without a machine, including using the aeropress to brew your coffee, and a french press for the milk. https://youtu.be/ZgIVfU0xBjA
I feel like I'd still want to try them on first. They might be just different enough that they end up looking wrong?
I probably should have prefaced all of this by saying I am an absolute pedant.
I'm a bit skeptical about buying frames without trying them on first. I find a lot of frames don't look as good as I'd hoped once I see them on my face (this could be my face's fault to be fair).
And virtual means of trying on glasses isn't the same, I reckon. Slight differences in how the software measures your face size could mean they end looking different on you in real life.
I suppose I could buy a bunch, and be statistically pretty likely to get something that looks good, but that seems like it'd be creating a lot of unnecessary waste.
So yeah, maybe I'm just not savvy enough for these modern times, but I'd prefer to do it all in store.
I'd support that. We're already seeing it happen with flooding earlier in the year. I guess there was coverage through EQC for that stuff, but I'm honestly not sure how that works.
Then with all the wildfires overseas... Almost makes me a little nervous about summer approaching.
One Deck Dungeon is a fun cooperative dice game. You each pick a class, then have to battle your way through a dungeon. I'm a little hazy on the mechanics, tbh, but I have positive memories from playing it with a friend.
