After reading the comments here I have been convinced we should create a list of these artists, and none of their content is welcome in this community.
Main points being:
Nazis, racists, transphobes, homophobes are not welcome here under any context!
This isn't book burning. This is more like we're refusing to print and distribute more copies of their books for them.
I finished a Confederacy of Dunces, and Three Body Problem. Now I'm about β through The Dark Forest.
I'd recommend all three of these books!
A Confederacy of Dunces is a Pulitzer prize winning comedy. By the end of the book you really like Ignatius, even though you hate him in the beginning.
The other two books are part of the "Remembrance of earths past" trilogy. Easy recommend for sci-fi fans.
Just finished Martyr! and now I'm reading Neuromancer.
Martyr! was good, though I didn't really enjoy the last couple chapters. It felt rushed to meet a deadline.
I'm only about 20% through Neuromancer. It's good so far. Sci-fi is my go to.
I'm tired of seeing the telling of "the scorpion and the frog" fable ham fisted into so many stories. I don't think I ever heard that one growing up, yet I've heard it a dozen times in shows.
I love my Kobo Libra Colour!
I have only good things to say about it.
That last point really puts it above and beyond any other e-reader out there!
Mongolian Soy Curls
IngredientsΒ
Directions
Soak the soy curls until they are soft then drain (30 minutes to an hour).
Wash and cut the scallions into 2 inch chunks.Β
Heat oil in a pan and saute the scallions till they soften.Β
Add the soy curls and continue to saute till everything is hot.
In another pan mix the soy sauce, water, vegetable bouillon, garlic, ginger, maple syrup, and sambal olek. Heat till it boils.
Make a slurry with the cornstarch and water and slowly whisk into the boiling pan.
Reduce the heat and stir until it thickens.Β
Add the sauce to the soy curls and stir.Β
Serve immediately with rice.
Notes
You might need a little more vegetable broth if the sauce gets too thick.
Just finish Piranesi by Susanna Clarke, and I'm about a third of the way through James by Percival Everett.
Both are so good!
I'm reading Things Fall Apart by Chinua Achebe.
I'm not sure how much I like it. It does a very good job of giving a look into African society around the time of slavery and missionaries, so I can see why it is touted as such an important novel. That said, I don't love the writing style or the characters.
Just finished System Collapse by Martha Wells (book seven in the Murderbot series). I liked all the books in this series, and they are an easy recommend!
Currently reading How to be Perfect by Michael Schur and Three Bags Full by Leonie Swann.
How to be Perfect is a good intro to ethics written by the creator of The Good Place. If you're interested in learning about ethics and don't know where to start I'd recommend it.
I'm only a couple chapters into Three Bags Full, so I don't have much to say yet. The premise is a flock of sheep solving the murder of their herder. It's enjoyable so far.
How to do Nothing - I'm about halfway through now and liking it more, but not a lot. Still waiting for actionable items instead of the author just quoting a bunch of other writers.
A Confederacy of Dunces - I read the first chapter a while back and bounced off it, because the main guy is too insufferably realistic to how many Americans are. Started it again and I'm really enjoying it now.
I'm reading Stranger in a Strange Land and How to do Nothing.
I'm really liking stranger in a strange land. What he imagined as sci-fi is interesting especially if you remember it's written in the 60s. Lots of dialog, which I enjoy.
I'm not loving how to be perfect. I'm about 25% through, and it feels like most of it could have just been a blog post. Very verbose for the content provided.
Just finished "How to Commit a Postcolonial Murder" and "Binti"
The former is very good lit fic. It does deal with some tough topics including rape and murder, but it's very good. Highly recommend.
Binti is very short, but well done. The book won a Hugo award.
Currently reading "Blindsight." It's also quite good, though I'm only through the first section.
Just finished Ella Minnow Pea because of someone's suggestion here of good epistolary novels. It was great! Highly recommend.
Reading Woodworking by Emily St James currently. It is also incredibly good! I can't put it down.
Woodworking by Emily St James is an amazing book. It's fiction about a trans woman in her 30s finally coming out, and a trans teenager who has already been out for a while.
Kobo Libra Colour. It's amazing!
Plus they partnered with ifxit so all parts of your ereader can be replaced if there's an issue.
Anna's Archive has basically everything, though it may take a few weeks for new releases to appear there. In that case, a private tracker like iptorrents is going to be where it's at.
Download Calibre on your computer. Once you have the book add it into Calibre.
Connect the Kobo to the computer. Once it connects, drag and drop the files over from the Calibre interface.
That's it!
The other option is using Calibre web instead, but that does take a little configuring. I'd consider my method above a good way "to add to her selection without making it more difficult."
Not patient this week. Playing Crimson Desert.
I'm really liking it. It's giving me the same kind of joy Skyrim did when it first came out.
I'm reading "This is How You Lose the Time War" and "His to Be Perfect" currently.
I recommend both of them!
thanks for using Leebra!
