My first thought is all the maga people are going to run up to Alaska to "defend freedom" from Russia.

I then realized that probably won't happen because they'll only listen to what Trump tells them to do, so they'll sit back and watch as the USA is reduced to 49 states.

In their eyes, you can't spell RUSsiA without U.S.A....

I was about to reply asking where the 7th needle is, then I noticed it's black and in her left hand, between her thumb and index finger, while the other 6 needles are tan.

For those who don't know, the image is from

Kim's Convenience (Netflix). A great show, from a used to be decent streamer.

A 2024 Kia Telluride is right around $50,000 USD (fully loaded specs), but I get what you're saying with regards to vehicles in general.

Like BMW and Tesla having "creature comforts" behind subscriptions.

Has anybody seen the movie WALL-E?

It's probably a bit of a stretch, but I feel like this is somehow the genesis/precursor of the hoverchairs that all the adults use for everything.

(God, I hope not.)

It's a pretty successful Disney movie from the last 20 years, there was never a chance that would work.

Looks like a press chopper. Place vegetable on top of a matrix of square blades (they're like 10x10 rows or something) then you push through the blades with the press. It makes bulk diced veg or whatever very quickly, the blades are kind of a pain to clean but other than that, it's pretty useful.

I don't know why, but "mechanical turk" keeps cropping up when I think about this sort of stuff.

Sounds like mine also.

Add in a 90's medical drama of some sort with a patient flat-lining for 2 or 3 minutes straight.

Or the annoying AF "dun-dun" from whatever "law & order" series she's watching.

I always see posts of fish and chips, and I never remember to ask:

What do you eat it with?

I prefer some hot sauce (fish) and some malt (chips)

Yup it was a CBC show, picked up by Netflix.

I figured it would be easier to say it the way I did rather than doing the semantics dance, mainly because Netflix is (unfortunately) more recognizable than CBC to most people.

Also, I'm unaware if CBC has a way to stream or watch the show on-demand.

ETA: Thank you for the clarification add by the way.

I agree with you and I live in Florida. I'd rather deal with the drive thru for the same reasons you listed.

Also, I won't have to deal with trying to buckle a 2 & 4 year-old out of and back into their car seats, especially when it's raining and 95*F. The 4 year old has ASD and refuses to be helped into the car so they throw a tantrum in the rain, and the 2 year old loses their mind just because.

There are things that people who don't have/want kids can't understand, and it's an argument not worth having.
