Interestingly growing up with the internet and alongside the growth of internet based advertising I kinda inadvertently developed a sort of mental adblock. I kinda don't see or hear them even as they're happening, I feel like one of those Westworld robots "Doesn't look like anything to me". I think everyone's kinda got one of those even from all the tv and radio ads before the internet and still today, hence needing to justify so much marketing research and creative work to stand out but it seems I reached some saturation point a long time ago and now I'd have to actually choose to concentrate to even perceive an ad happening.

This has survived despite probably 15 years of ublock origin use. I definitely noticed when I use a machine without it that there's like impediments to navigation if the web, like road blocks but I'm so trained to close the ad or leave the page that all I ever see is the x button.

You should try precooking the mushrooms a bit, I find they work better on pizza that way as they can release a lot that water content so it doesn't get on your pizza and prevent browning, they don't take up so much room on the pizza that way too so you can get a nice heterogeneous mix of exposed cheese layer and toppings during the bake. I like to give them a little fry with garlic and butter but you could use olive oil. Gotta pull them off the heat just before they get nice and golden otherwise they burn in the oven.

It didn't fare well. Turns out it had only been tested in a pool, not salt water and it was a whole lot less waterproof than it was supposed to be.

Shit's getting really bad. I mean I'm not sure what I think on the judgement, but the fact that there's people here walking around with Nazi symbols and openly literally becoming members of the National Socialist Network. How has it all gone so wrong and so... Weird.

What I remember most about them is that they were extremely effective as unintentional bug zappers. The SMELL of instantly vaporized burnt moths in the room is something I'll likely never forget.

It's a nice picture and all but I definitely upvoted for the sentence "congratulations to ClopClopMcFuckwad for their pic of the week".

I don't know whether I'm being helpful here or ruining a joke for everyone by being an oblivious and highly literal nerd but in case it's the former. These people are recreating a scene from a famous anime from 1995 called in English 'Neon Genesis Evangelion' or in this case one of the feature length films made after the tv series' run called 'End of Evangelion' (1997), which serves as a more complete ending to the original series. The scene in question is one of many in the film and series where the main character Shinji has a crisis of confidence and is unwilling to pilot one of the giant robots the series is ostensibly about and the character Misato attempts to talk him back to his senses.

Shinji's personal crisis comes at the worst time as he is at this point the only person on earth left able to pilot one of the robots and save humanity from a threat that is actively at play while at the same time the facility they're in which operates these robots is under an active assault by a specific faction of people sweeping the complex murdering everyone. In the lead up to the moment portrayed in this image Misato is trying to escort Shinji to the hangar in a last ditched effort to save him so he can pilot his robot before it's too late. The scene is kinda fucked up because in trying to snap Shinji out of his breakdown Misato kisses him and says "we'll do the rest later", but she's like 28 and he's 14. The frame they're recreating in this shot is a few seconds before that kiss.

It's funny, if I saw this in a film I'd say the CGI wasn't quite convincing but this is apparently actually what a massive helicopter in a rice field looks like.

Something about this shot specifically though, because other images of the scene don't give me that vibe.

I had this before, though not through a direct communication. Someone had gotten my email credentials somehow and installed a company's app and made an account. When I went through the support pages on the company's site to find out how to delete the account the only listed way was through the app itself.

They were accommodating and helpful when I emailed the company about it though. I just told them that I can't agree to the privacy policy and thus cannot install the app but still need the account to be deleted. They did it.

I still can't figure out what happened here. You poop, the toilet is then blocked by poop. You panick and reach in with your hands and successfully retrieve the poop and toss it out the window, now you're in the bathroom, toilet hopefully unclogged and with shitty hands and you now decide to bring the poop BACK in to the bathroom through the window!? Huh!?

It's a potentially viable if imperfect way to cover the exposed surface of the watermelon is this really a question?

The guy clearly isn't familiar with a lot of image formats and is trying to find out about them by asking, a perfectly reasonable thing to do, and in a special community called no stupid questions, no less.

You don't need to call anyone a gullible fool and furthermore you've not actually helped to answer the question "what is webp", at all. What are you trying to achieve with this pointless aggression? If you wanted one less "gullible fool" you'd have to answer the question and educate, at best you've sown confusion.

I particularly hate those airblade things even more than regular air dryers. I like that they're faster and typically not as gross and warm but they are designed in a way where you feed your hand in to a narrow gap with powerful air jets in front of and behind your hands in this gap. Your hands are not a completely uniform symmetrical shape, so the jets buffet your hand around and they inevitably touch the parts of the device where the jets are located, right where everyone else has had the same thing happen. It grosses me out.

Why do steering wheel locks seem so much less popular now? Same with the reflectors. Nothing's changed about the best way to keep the car cool while you're not in it but I almost never see them anymore and I'm in Australia of all places. Those things and to a lesser extent the steering wheel locks were everywhere in the 90s.
