I literally have like 1TB of video stored on YouTube and privatized. Google is making $0 from my videos, but they still have to store them and have them available if I want to watch it (it's all of my Twitch VODs). Meanwhile websites like Streamable perma-delete my 5MB video after it gets 0 views in 2 milliseconds.

YouTube is a behemoth that will not be replaced.

Cool, but let's not pretend Mojang are the good guys.

They added chat moderation on private servers that you host yourself on your own hardware using your own internet.

The entire community was in uproar over it for months and they didn't care. They deleted all criticism from their sub and continued on like nothing was happening. They refused to answer any questions about it, and uploaded new snapshots that only had ONE change, and that was to break mods that disabled chat moderation.

This was so bad it actually prompted modders to backport all of the 1.19 features to 1.18.

Just thought I'd remind everyone. Mojang is a shit company now that they are owned by Microsoft. They are not the good guys.

I've had a few websites tell me to view their website in Chrome. I just leave, because no way am I putting any kind of personal data into a website run by such incompetent people.

I used to be a web developer. Back 8 years ago, you used to have to do a lot of special tricks to make your website look and function the same in all the browsers. Now, you really don't. Unless you're using some really obscure closed source codec or something, websites literally render and function properly without needing any browser specific code fixes.

There's no excuse, unless you're blocking older versions of every browser for security reasons, which is fine, because browsers update automatically these days, and it's very rare for someone to be running a really old version.

One of the Linux challenge videos. Either part 1 or 2.

The Linux community loves hating on Linus for this, but honestly, it was a bug that popos has now fixed, and the video genuinely shows how difficult Linux can be for the average user.

Reddit is going crazy because they are calling him a millionaire. I'm sorry, but making a million dollars over the past decade makes him paid less than a regular developer, and 1 million dollars can't even buy you a crack shack in Canada.

Remember, Canada is the most expensive place to live. We have the most expensive housing and internet/data plans in the entire world.

Think logically. Don't think like childish Redditors.

I mod a bunch. Only because I joined when Lemmy got it's big first wave, and the site was literally dead. My contribution was making communities for people to start posting in, because a ton of people simply don't want to moderate, or don't know how to create communities.

Within the first week I got a bunch of DMs from people asking to be mods, and I added all of them. I am not making communities to horde them. I am making them so people have places to post. To get the ball rolling.

Firefox does this by default. So that.

I'm shocked they haven't already. A good 95% of YouTube could be deleted and no one would notice, and would save Google millions and millions of dollars.

Wow, the fact Reddit is claiming he's blackmailing them for 10 million dollars is insane.

The fact the dev recorded it and posted it online for people to listen to themselves is great. God I love living in Ontario Canada where it's a single party consent to record others on the phone.

It's a laptop that you can upgrade like a desktop.

You can also mix and match the ports on it, so you can do a combination of whatever ports you use and need most.

Call me rude, but I don't think you should be using the exact same name if you're not the original developer.

Something like infinity rebooted, infinity relaunch, or something like that is fine. Just straight up calling it infinity seems misleading. Also sucks for you if the original developer decides to make infinity for Lemmy.

My favourite are the comments of people saying "return the sub back to normal, this shit is stupid and isn't doing anything! I don't even use Apollo so I don't care" - posted from Boost for Reddit.

A lot of people don't even understand. They genuinely think this only affects Apollo and that Christian is being a baby lol. Can't wait to see their faces when their app stops working and they whine.

Your words are exactly why Notch, the creator of Minecraft sold Minecraft, and stopped all of his ongoing projects.

Also the reason Eric, developer of Stardew Valley, said his new game Haunted Chocolatier isn't coming to mobile, because the mobile community is so insanely toxic and entitled.

People suck.

When I joined lemmy.ml and beehaw.org, the stats on join-lemmy.org were just over 100/month.

Now it's at 1K/month for beehaw and 1.6K/month for lemmy.ml

There's also a HUGE list now, where as when I joined last week there were maybe 8?

Small numbers, ya, but Reddit still hasn't done anything. I am sure July 1st will bring a huge wave of people who are still sticking with Reddit since apps still work.

I think you mean there are Lemmy users (qbittorrent) and Reddit users (utorrent).

Can't convince them what they're using is bad and that there are better alternatives.

Every time you suggest to meat eaters to eat less meat, they become violent.

Even if you suggest them cutting their 14 meat meals per week down to maybe 12 meat meals (skip one day), they flip their shit.

So ya, good luck suggesting to anyone to eat 30% less.

No, honestly.

I hate that the algorithm is super broken and the only meaningful sort option is "TopDay", which means Lemmy is only good for me to look at once every day at the same time.

Admittedly, I'm so bored, I open Boost for Reddit for more content.

Really hope more content comes to lemmy before third party apps shut down.
