Redditors already scream at people when they get a downvote and blame it on the person that replies to them, even if that person didn't downvote them.

I can see this being dangerous and leading to a lot of bullying. I know k-bin already publicly shows this. I can see who downvotes my comments/posts when I open up the post in a k-bin instance, without even being a member.

One thing I don't understand is why would meta even federate with anyone outside of their own instances anyway?

Makes no sense to ever open up to allow any other instances in. Not like they are crying for users.

The fediverse just makes sense in their own bubble. Turn Facebook, Instagram, and their other apps into the fediverse and federate them all together.

I don't expect them to ever open up to the actual fediverse. Same with BlueSky. I feel like all of these companies will USE the fediverse but in a closed bubble.

This is the reason I've never used discord outside voice chatting with friends a few times per month.

A basic photo from my phone is over the file size limit. It's essentially unusable, and I'm not going to get me and my friends and family to all pay a subscription for a feature literally every other chat app provides for free. Sorry.

Reddit was full of Digg comments for a while.

Imgur was full of Reddit comments for a while (when Imgur decided to become their own social platform).

Lemmy is going to be full of Reddit comments for a while.

I'm not a lemmygrad user. I'm simply stating facts?

There's literally many recent news articles of Canadians getting in legal trouble from American companies because of the things they posted or things they downloaded.

The Canadian government isn't handing me over to China or allowing China to come get me.

My comment is not even pro China. I'm just saying that nothing I say or do will allow China to put me in jail. Can't say the same about America.

You should learn to read. I would prefer no one get my data, but it's statistically safer for me for China to get it over an American company. However, no one should get it. Fuck shit American companies, fuck shit Chinese companies.

Nah. Don't feel like being caught up in one of the 15 mass shootings per day where the government will try to brush it off and blame it on trans people.

I may be dirt poor in Canada, but at least my trans neighbour and I are both safe when we leave our places.

Americans when Canadians say they'd prefer TikTok spying vs an American company:

but seriously. I want no one to have my data, but if someone HAD to have it, I would prefer TikTok over anything from Meta, Amazon, Microsoft, etc..

My country wont export me to China if I post something negative or pirate something. My country will export me to the US if they come banging on my door. I am quite literally safer letting China have a bit of my data.

When did they start this? Because I last tried a few months ago to send a photo and it was telling me it was too large, and to buy nitro. It was ~8.6MB

It's worse for the US to have my data as a Canadian than China. America can come for me, and my country would hand me over. China can't do shit to me.

This just in, American realises no one outside of America actually likes America!

You think you're all that and a bag of chips, but quite frankly the rest of the world is laughing at you and doesn't want anything to do with you.

When you're faced with that, you call everyone a "tankie". Almost like people can hate both America and China. Both countries are dog shit.

I may be weird, but I hate my WearOS devices. I highly prefer a Mi Band.

It gives me all of the same info my WearOS watch does (heart rate, spo2, sleep tracking, steps, app notifications, timers, alarms, phone call alerts, weather, etc) but is a more comfortable compact package, and the battery lasts 5+ days vs 18-25 hours. Not to mention the price is usually 5-15x cheaper.

I know I'm a minority, but I genuinely don't understand why people want a WearOS watch?

There's a TON of reasons for a second monitor, but the biggest undisputable reason is to be able to monitor something while doing work on your main monitor.

Switching virtual desktops every few minutes to check the progress of something is crazy.

I have 3 monitors and it's not enough. I'm convinced anyone who thinks 1 monitor is fine is slower and less efficient at any job than those with 2+

If you know nothing about password managers to the point where you're asking a question like this, you should at least start with a cloud based manager.

Also if you use a reputable company, you're pretty safe. BitWarden is great. LastPass has been absolute bottom of the barrel for years now after LogMeIn bought them.

.... And when they are spying, and see something they don't like, they CAN come for me. Canadian government won't stop them.

I don't want a shitty country like America to spy on me. Sorry. America is not as great as Americans act like it is.

Like I've said, I want no one to spy on me. But if I had to pick, I'd pick China because it makes me safer. Not because I'd like it. I wouldn't. Fuck spying.

I'm not talking about that. Please stay on topic. My simple statement is true, and doesn't mean that I love China. I don't. You'll never catch me ever talking positive about China or ever stepping foot in China.

you have to be dumb blind and stupid to think extradition is the issue here.

Reddit.com is that way. I am now blocking you because I am not going to be the type of person that turns Lemmy into Reddit 2.0

My simple point still stands. Again, sorry you don't realize that no one wants America to have their data. Your country is falling apart. I mean damn, you're so upset about something you disagree with, that you're calling me dumb, blind, and stupid. Did you grab a thesaurus and type all of the words you read on the one page? because two of those things mean the same thing.

Sorry to everyone else reading this thread. I did not mean to start a petty argument on Lemmy.

It seems like you don't understand the point.

I also think it's really weird that Americans are replying to me being really defensive over other countries not preferring to give America all their data.

Like I said, America isn't as great as Americans think it is. The rest of the world doesn't want their data funneled into America. I'm sorry if this is how you're finding out that America isn't number one.

I'm really not trying to be a dick or argue, I just don't get how you don't understand the basic concept that Canada will hand me over to the US, but won't hand me over to China.

It's also frustrating that you guys think that if I don't agree with America having my data, that I love China? I don't. Never said I did. I hate both places having my data. I hate my own country having my data. It's not all black and white.
