How has doing nothing against the rise of fascism worked so far?

You’re telling me that a group willing to make money off the work of a bigoted transphobe is doing something shitty?

I’m shocked

Whooole lotta people in these comments defending the guy who produced and shared Child Exploitation Material. “She shouldn’t have resorted to violence, there were other options” “She shouldn’t have responded to bullying with physical assault” My favourite: “it was made with AI, so it’s not really child porn”

Why is a 13 year old girl being asked to act with the calm sensibility of an adult in this situation, but no one is asking why a 13 year old boy thought it was okay to sexually harass his classmate? If she should have known better, he bloody should have too.

While I agree that jumping to violence can sometimes be the wrong answer, there are at least two cases where you just gotta remind people that polite society has its limits: nazis, and people who are actively sexually assaulting a child. This person was openly sharing sexually explicit material of her with others in front of her. That is sexual assault under Louisiana law. And if you think asking a predator nicely to please stop ever works, you’re a naive fool.

“Okay guys we’ve purchased GOG, the internet’s darling for DRM-free gaming. If we play our cards right we could take an even larger share of steams sales. Our first order of business: pivot our focus onto the one thing that DRM-conscious gamers would hate more than DRM!”

We share Olivia’s desire to keep live music accessible and ensure fans have the best access to affordable tickets.

While we can’t require other marketplaces to honour artists’ resale preferences

“We really want to keep music affordable and accessible. Unfortunately, the resale marketplace that we designed and profit from is totally out of our control, otherwise we’d totally make music affordable like we wish we could”

Fuck off and die

But for real, I am super interested in the concept of cultivated meat. I’m no vegan, but if less animals need to be mistreated and murdered for my steak, I’m not going to complain.

“Yeah! The real primary colours are CMY!”

Also bullshit.

Our RGB primaries are a simplification that comes from availability of pigments. While blue was originally a very rare and valuable pigment made from precious stones, it was still more available than magenta or cyan, which are made synthetically.

All of the following is taking paint mixing into mind.

When looking at a continuous colour wheel:

You can see where each colour sits on the spectrum. When you consider a RBY palette, we are limited to essentially the colours in this triangle:

Mixing a vibrant Purple or Green is often difficult with a basic rby colour palette, and a Magenta or Cyan is impossible. We define a primary colour as “foundational colours that cannot be created by mixing other colours”, which means that CMY are real primaries, right? Well, if we look at the CMy palette:

We DO get a wider range of colours, but you’ll notice that a true purple, green, blue, and red are still outside of our range. You can get a pretty close red with Yellow and Magenta, but it will never be as vibrant as a pure Red pigment. So then Red is a primary?

When painting, you should use the colours that you need for the work, and mix from there. The ‘primary colours’ are a tool to teach students the theory of colour mixing. It is not a perfect guide, but teaching complex colour theory to novice painters is just intimidation. Most people get an intro to art, learn RBY, and then leave art, don’t think about it again until a TikTok titled “school LIED to you” introduced CMY.

EDIT: this is from the perspective of an artist. I am not an expert, and certainly got something wrong in here, but the primary argument has always annoyed me

Charge what you think your game is worth. Consumers will pay what they think it is worth.

I don’t think guilting other developers into charging more just so you don’t look bad is going to work the way you hope it is.

I’m rewatching The X-Files at the moment, and it’s so weird to remember a time when people believed that government agencies were staffed by people smart enough to investigate or cover up alien conspiracies.

It actually works as evidence against the theories that aliens have visited earth, because if it existed, Patel would have accidentally tweeted the Roswell autopsy video while eating his lunch on the toilet by now.

At a press conference on Tuesday, Bruley said he opposed abolishing ICE but disagreed with how federal officers were carrying out immigration enforcement.

I’m shocked that Chief Piggy doesn't want to shut down the gestapo. He’s just sad that they’re picking on his fellow pigs.

It really feels like some important piece of information is missing from this article. The whole thing is just the dramatised opinions of the guy who’s game got banned, and it’s clear that he thinks very highly of himself:

And while Horses won't be launching on consoles due to porting costs, Pietro says the console makers who've seen Horses have said they'd be "happy to have the game on [their] platform"

"We had multiple publishers actively coming to us," explains Pietro, "and be like, 'Hey, we want to make this game.'"

Looking at the game trailer and stills, I do not believe that this game was the talk of console-town or a publishing darling. It’s a rough as hell indie game about abusing humans with intentionally sexual imagery (I don’t believe him when he says the game is not sexual either, the trailer features people dressed as horses, followed by a shot of real-life horses fucking). If the game was so beloved by consoles, you would think that the “world’s best indie studio” could scrape together a few investors to pay for porting. Their other games have console releases. Where’s the love for the horse themed snuff game on Switch 2?

This is a misleading article implying that the poor devs have had their game ripped from them:

And nearly 18 months on, the studio still isn't certain what triggered the ban.

Except Valve explained in their response:

we found that this title features themes, imagery, or descriptions that we won't distribute. Regardless of a developer's intentions with their product, we will not distribute content that appears, in our judgment, to depict sexual conduct involving a minor. While every product submitted is unique, if your product features this representation—even in a subtle way that could be defined as a 'grey area'—it will be rejected by Steam.

Your game crossed lines that Valve has decided are too far for them. You changed the girl into a woman in later builds, but the application YOU submitted showed that there was consideration made in putting a small child into your horse-bdsm-murder game in a sexually suggestive manner. Valve cannot confirm that the rest of your game isn’t going to steer back in that direction, and has made a choice based on the information they have. They do not owe every dev a personalised response when their game is banned for exploiting minors.

The game is going to be on GoG, Epic, Humble, and Itch.io. This dev is chucking a public tanty because he’s not allowed on Steam. This is 100% just a marketing ploy to drum up sympathy and push sales on other storefronts. No doubt a future trailer will contain the phrase “The game that was too scary for Steam is now available on Epic!” or some such.

War against who? Do we have the perpetrator? Do we know their political affiliation? The Trump shooter was a registered Republican. Are they waging war against their own party?

Obviously they don’t need evidence to be horrifically violent shit stains, they’ve managed that well enough so far.

I’ve said it before, but Trump as president basically rules out the existence of aliens on Earth. That fat fuck could not keep his mouth shut if he knew about aliens.

I have been rewatching the x-files, and the most fantastical part of the show is the idea that the FBI could orchestrate an alien conspiracy. Kash Patel couldn’t organise a piss-up in a brewery, let alone hide aliens from the world.

The game came out.

It was great.

The devs worked on additional biomes, features, and updates.

They were also great.

The devs decided that it was time to shift focus away from a game that they feel is as complete as it needs to be right now.

‘Fans’ throw a temper tantrum.

The devs have been very open with communication throughout development and after. This feels like fans forming a paradoxical relationship with a development studio and getting butthurt when that relationship isn’t two way.

A lot of gatekeepers in the comments who seem to love the idea of a UBI, but hate any attempt to test the viability of one.

I think this is a great step towards proving the benefits of a UBI for the greater population. I believe supporting the arts is always a positive endeavour, so using them as the pilot program kills two birds with one stone. I think that randomising who gets to enter the pilot program may allow some people to game the system, but the benefits outweigh the possibility of one schyster scamming a paycheque. The lottery system stops this becoming a bonus for established or famous artists, and supports creatives in all areas.

All in all, this is a good thing, and the people who want “all or nothing” are short sighted.
