I don't know him from a hole in the wall, but I wish they'd normalize jeans for office work. These are no longer the days when denim was only worn by physical laborers and looked shoddy. Jeans can look just as nice or just as awful as any other piece of clothing now.

When I was a teen driver in the 90s, my rule was seatbelts or get the fuck out. If they fought me on it, I described to them in excruciating detail what my aunt looked like after a semi hit her car and she wasn't wearing a seatbelt. She was unrecognizable as a human being.. and she lived. Imagine looking like that while still alive. Put on your fucking seatbelt.

That's pretty normal for any doctor's office. There is almost certainly items from other brands all over the back area where the patients don't go, too. Drug reps go hard on the cheap freebies so the office will always have a reminder that their drug exists. If you ever see someone in the waiting room who is particularly attractive and dressed far nicer than average, that is usually a rep who is there to drop more goodies and shill their drug. As I understand it, it's a very lucrative job.

I knew that the toxicity of reddit was affecting me, but I didn't realize just how much until the move to Lemmy back in June. Everything was just so nice, people just happily chatted in comments, most disagreements were talked through or an "agree to disagree" arrangement was reached. Seeing the rude, angry people and the trolls creep back in was so disappointing (though I do realize it's inevitable. I used to mod forums back in the day.) Having a good chunk of those negative types on one instances is a positive thing, though. With the tools at hand, we can nip it in the bud by just blocking the lot of them.

Something I think people forget in all these many posts about blocking instances is that blocking is not a permanent thing. The mods aren't hitting the big red button and nuking the instance from existence forever. It can be undone. Times change, people change, forums/subreddits/instances change as they age. If it looks like things may have improved in a blocked instance, the ban can be lifted.

I've never thought about it before, but I wonder if the companies with games containing microtransactions can ask PSN for compensation for lost income due to long outages.

Same. I drove through them and it was great to see. What I was surprised to see was that most everyone was late gen x and boomer age. Very few young people.

There is a crazy amount of news, both local and otherwise, that the media does not report on. I had no idea just how much until I started working with first responders. That gave me the opportunity to see and hear what actually goes on. There are way more shootings in most large towns and cities than its residents realize. More overdoses, more fires, a crazy number of larceny and breaking and entering calls. A LOT is kept quiet. A few years back, a guy got caught near here with a car trunk full of bombs. He only got caught because the idiot got the car repossessed for non-payment. Not one peep about it in the media.

I can't remember the last time I saw a local pharmacy. The chains ran them out of business around here a long, long time ago. Best we had was one particular Realo, but then they got the local TriCare contract and wow, they got in over their heads. All their long-time employees quit and the quality of the place is abysmal now.
