We've known for years that starting school at 08.00 is detrimental to school-aged children and teenagers, but we keep doing it.

We've known for years that WFH can be just as productive and even more so than RTO, but we keep doing it.

We've known for ages that housing homeless people helps them and society much better than criminalizing them, but we keep doing it.

We've known for ages that repressive stances on drugs are counterproductive, but we keep doing it.

We've known for ages that a 4-day workweek results in gains for everyone, including the owner class themselves, yet we keep on doing 5.

I'm starting to think that gaining knowledge and insight is completely useless if the results are never taken into account if they don't fit the currently reigning narrative.

Humans are a deeply flawed species. That alone is bad enough, but we KNOW we are, we KNOW how to solve at least some of it, yet we simply refuse.

Remember: today it's "just" the Palestinians and you may not be affected or care. But tomorrow, it could be you.

Don't buy Amazon products. Fairly simple concept.

Ahh yes. Nothing like killing a perp and a few bystanders for a few dollars' worth of fare. USA! USA!

A Brita filter =/= a survival straw. There ARE filters you can use to drink directly from water sources in nature that will filter out all contaminants but a Brita ain't one.

First they came for the incest/rape games, which most people somewhat agree with (although the principle is still wrong) Next up is all nsfw games. After that, it'll be mainstream and indie games altogether. This never stops with just one "victory" for these groups.

That, and teachers really fucking hate being called out on something for some reason.

How to turn a "must-play game" into trash no one wants in less than 24 hours. Good job. Makes me feel sorry for the poor devs who poured their hearts & souls into it only to have the suits fuck it up - again.

Meh. Paypal deserves everything bad that happens to it. Barely used it in the last few years. Definitely do NOT keep funds on there unless you're okay with just losing them.

It's a calling card. Everyone knows what happened, not a single soul will comment on it. Unless they fancy being the next up for flight lessons.

If she knows the backlash will be insane and she still has to live there, totally understandable. Make sure you're aligned on where to go with this in the future. If she truly wants to choose a life with you she may have to break with her family at some point. You can't expect her to be ready for that at this time, but you also shouldn't be strung along if she never sees an actual future with you. Good relationships require honesty on both sides and great communication.

The only interaction I've ever had with authors of mods and such was sending them thanks for their hard work. Sad.

Cowards. The Ukrainians are laying down their lives in defense of Europe and they can't even get this, but a genocidal maniac who would sacrifice millions to remain in power gets all the aid he wants.

If there's any upside to the entire situation, it's that perhaps, maybe, developers will again start paying more attention to optimization instead of just throwing more powerful hardware at it.

Some of the greatest games ever developed for consoles were great because the developers had to get extremely creative with the limited resources at their disposal. This led to some incredibly optimized games that could do a whole lot with those very limited resources.

Again: do it. The sooner we can cast off the yoke of the Middle East's hold on our power generation via oil, the better. Things like this can only accellerate the process: good. Keep it up and accellerate even more.

I know some who went to Linux and a few who moved to Mac. But no one is seeing Win11 and saying "oh man, I gotta get in on that".

I have family members who refer to me as Cassandra because I regularly spout "inane nonsense" about the future which then inevitably becomes true.

I don't have a gift or a crystal ball. I have two eyes and (sadly) a working brain and the werewithal to study history and put one and one together.

We aren't geniuses by any stretch of imagination. It's just extremely sad and painful to see almost everyone else keep going with the (just) bearable lies vs the distinctively unbearable truth.

I do, but like most other people, I'm preoccupied with short term crises since, well, I need to survive those in order to be ready for the long-term ones.

In my opinion though, we don't stand a snowball's chance in hell. The elite will manage to hang just a bit longer, but eventually they'll cook and burn with the rest of us, or in their bunkers.

Anyways, shit's already fucked to the point that I've given up. Just sit back, relax and take whatever life gives ya.

Musk needs to die. He's the single most dangerous person on the planet, moreso than Trump himself or even Putin.

I hope some brave schmuck close to him is prepared to sacrifice everything. I would do it myself if there was any realistic chance of success.

And before this disappears due to "advocating violence" - he and his ilk don't just advocate violence but actually visit it upon us, on a daily basis. Fuck off with your righteousness. Tyrants should never be suffered.
