Poor sound mixing is exactly why I watch most things with subs by default now. I got sick of constantly having to turn the volume up to hear dialogue and then quickly back down to avoid massive explosions etc.

I never looked into the community behind those transcriptions but I always thought it seemed like good work. Individually a small effort, but collectively I bet it made a big difference for those who benefitted. And it looks like they did a lot more work than I ever saw.
It's too bad they invested so much into bettering a company that doesn't appear to have worked with them or even cared that they were bridging gaps in their underdeveloped platform. Funny I could be talking about mods here.
Tory governments regularly ignore expert advice, even when they have commissioned that advice. Look into immigration and drugs policy in the UK and you will find the government often does the opposite of what experts advise them to do. It's one of the ways you know they have an agenda other than "doing the right thing" or even "doing what is best for the country".
BG3 is great. I'm at the end of act 1 in single player and a bit further back in coop. But "redefined what an RPG can be"? Am I going crazy or is this just the usual hyperbole for the latest game?
Starfield is probably going to be very similar to previous Bethesda games, as usual.
This is the root of it. Reddit is not profitable (like twitter) and between my experience of Reddit over the years and stuff spez said in recent interviews, and the whole blackout situation recently, it's obvious that profit is the main driver for the business. It's funny referring to Reddit as a business, but that is now its primary purpose and descriptor.
I imagine the past few years have had a knock-on effect on social media businesses including Reddit, just as it has for the energy, food etc industries. What are the margins per user for ads served? It's got to be razor thin these days especially when Reddit employs thousands of people doing who knows what. I know they had to hold off their IPO due to the market and recently laid off some staff, they are clearly in bad shape as a business.
Interesting, I thought the sound mixing in films was poor because it was designed for cinema viewing and then not optimised for home setups. But I don't watch many movies on the big screen anymore. I thought at least some people were enjoying good quality mixing haha
Would this actually be a GDPR breach? I was thinking about the right to erasure/to be forgotten earlier in relation to a post I saw about how your posts aren't deleted on other federated instances, if you delete them on your home server. But I figured it wasn't applicable because it's not personal data and I'm thinking the same about this Reddit issue. Can anyone set me straight?
Some drama is just down to their politics (authoritarian Marxist Leninist in the main), and some relating to their moderation based on politics (bans for users posting articles critical of China, allegedly). You should be able to search and find recent treads, here is one I still had a tab open from yesterday:
Another part of this is people's concerns about whether their politics influences their development of Lemmy.
If they ever get anything, it will be millions at most. There's no chance the firm will give up any of the real wealth. Good luck to them though, I would love to see some of the fortune actually put to good use somewhere. They don't appear to use it to help anybody here.
I still can't stand her
That's the point of the meme, lol
But also they specifically made her character unlikable. You were supposed to find her irritating in comparison to Walter, who is an objectively worse person. I think that was almost the entire point of her, to make you side with an objectively bad person over the other slightly less objectively bad person.
I'm not sure what his involvement as a producer was, but I know a producer doesn't "pay the bills". It's a vague enough term that it could mean he was showrunning, writing, financing. Prett much anything. It could be that he wanted the title for awards or it could be that he had many responsibilities including ensuring that the professionals involved were qualified and experienced enough for their roles - from what I remember, the armourer and some camera crew were probably not.
Sorry, I didn't follow this case so I don't know all the details.
thanks for using Leebra!
