@Epzillon I have been using Plasma Big Screen for a while now and cant be happier. I use Jellyfin as my main media source, Fred TV for my IP TV service and PWA for Youtube and Netflix. My TV has been disconnected from the internet for a while now and I dont feel my kids know the difference. I also use the Rii bluetooth remote to access Plasma Big Screen interface.
@rockhandle That's how I started. Proxmox on a 9 year old laptop with LXC and VMs. Even now that laptop runs proxmox with pfsense and pihole VMs and is serving as my home router :)
@maegul Thanks for the heads up. I cross posted from mastodon and still trying to figure out how this all works. Appreciate the input.
@steal_your_face @Kushan Because FOSS.
@Alpagu @behohippy Sure, that's how we all started. An old computer, throw proxmox in there, a few VMs and/or a docker host and you have yourself a pretty sweet homelab.
@Sekoia I like using subdomains as it is easy to configure in a lot of services. Also, easier to remember if you are giving the URL to someone for access.
@Ek-Hou-Van-Braai @SteveTech So are they hosting the source code outside of github on their own platform or is it not going to be available at all?
@Ek-Hou-Van-Braai That sucks. So where does that leave us opensource advocates? What opensource Nas options do we have now?
@hungover_pilot Way more than I would like but the way I see it, it's cheaper than drinking and I learn in the process so I take it as a cost of entertainment :)
@rounding_error I use a gluten docker container using proton VPN and route my SearXNG docker container traffic through it. Is that basically the same as using the SearXNG config to do it?
@TrumpetX @DonutsRMeh I use Pangolin and it works great.
@kylian0087 @hib It used to be but the updated TOS removed the mention of file types and it seems that using media traffic is allowed as per the latest TOS.
@binwiederhier I love the idea. I am always on call for my work so this would fit right in with my schedule 🤣
I use both Seafile and Nextcloud. I use nextcloud for exactly your use case. File sharing, contact Sync and Calendar Sync. I backup my nextcloud files to seafile. It works perfectly for my use case.
@mingu @OpenSource @selfhosted Sorry for stupid question but once the data is exported from Facebook, is there an easy way to import it into Friendica?
@dannym Thank you :)
I will see if I can create an account and export the data from it. What would be the best way to share the data with you?
@dannym @rayb I used to write documentation for a living so I am open to assist with writing documents when needed :)
@knaak I have an excel sheet with all the IP addresses in my homelab.
@dontblink @falkerie71 I loved nextcloud photos until my photo collection grew and it took forever for nextcloud to load them. I believe it was trying to parse through the complete picture folder. Maybe there was something wrong with my selfhosted instance but it became unusable for me after a while.
@AlecSadler @seafootball Or seasoccer depending on what side if the pond you are from 🤣
thanks for using Leebra!
