They've tried it with Gold too (Au{TISM}) but it had some interesting side effects, so wonder what side effects Cu(ATSM) will have.

They're great for less tech savvy people, though terrible if you do know more and want to muck about your system more.

That song is interesting.

I didn't like it too much either when playing the game because of how repetitive it got.

But then I finished the game, and months later I found myself missing it. It's kinda a sad song that doesn't really hit until it's been over for a bit. Now I listen to it every now and then.

Is there like an actual statistical analysis on this or just anecdotal? Because I had Bionicle and never had a dream about it. Considering my age I'd imagine I'm due one by now.

Your comment implies women that are trans and get surgery aren't trans, just men without genitals.

Oh look, a gish gallop tactic in the wild! Combined with some strawmen and moving the goalposts and the sealioning from earlier. You're just a lovely can of logical fallacies and bad faith debate tactics, aren't you?

All those words just to easily be disproven by the fact that the people who beat this shitstain asshole weren't members of the government in any way or form. They weren't even cops. It was other random citizens who beat him up. Ergo, not fascism when it's literally not the government doing it, aiding it, promoting it, or even siding with the ones who beat the asshole. In fact, the government arrested those people.

Oh, and just you get it out of the way - in the video, the ones beating him up aren't promoting their own ideology, they just think the asshole is an asshole for saying bullshit. No different than beating up a drunk at a bar who's calling everyone's mom a whore. So, not terrorism. Probably why they aren't being charged with terrorism. Not that you can trust the application of UK laws anyway as intended, but even a government happy to label every but of uproar as "terrorism" these days hasn't labeled it as such.

Both can be true at the same time, Sir Gishgallop.

You can beat up an asshole who threatens to destabilize democracy just because he's an asshole spouting violent bullshit while that in itself happens to strengthen democracy, much like an angry person beating up a drunk person at the bar causing a ruckus will bring order back to the bar even if they were just beating up the drunk for also being an asshole.

For those recommending unsplash instead of using AI, bad news - this ad shows even with uBlock Origin installed, front page:

path: 0 24367634, hotness: undefined, score: -1, children: 0
Lumisal -5 points 2 days ago

1: depending how they set things up, it could be the installer asked for something, in a very specific banner size.

2: they probably didn't think most people would care enough about a banner image. Which yeah, it's kinda not the most priority thing. Especially if they manage more than this community. No one in the community asked to run a contest, or offered art either, and it's not like you can just ask a stranger since not everyone can make one. It's c/coffee not c/art. This likely slipped past their mind to put further effort into it.

3: Sizing would be an issue. Although unsplash has many images, it doesn't have many banner sized images. Then narrowing it down to coffee related ones and it's going to be even less.

Actually, just checked, and their search filters do not have something for banner sized images, but what's funnier is it you're going the absolutist route on AI, you shouldn't use unsplash either, since the first thing they advertise personally themselves is AI (I have uBlock on so this is the site choosing this ad itself)

Lastly, AI ethics are subjective. If you're running an open source model on your own hardware for non-profit reasons, I don't see that as unethical. You're not using a ton of electricity in that case, you're not making any money on what's produced, and you're not supporting a corporation.

It's like the difference between using the open source AI model on Home Assistant to control your lights vs Amazon's Alexa.

Oh wow, a bunch of comments that say they would but haven't. Yeah, I read the "I would do that" comments already, but it seems you didn't get the point of being proactive rather than passive.

Congrats on making my point.

But you haven't. Talk is free electricity isn't.

I've seen too many in the FOSS and free public service community burn out because it's constant asks or talks but too many rare do's.

If you couldn't take a picture, why did you assume the creators could? They couldn't, so they used the next best option to give something to a community they already donate for free.

You know what could have been a better post then this? A contest for people to create banners etc to donate to the community.

Instead it's just the usual pissing and moaning about AI use that contributed nothing.

Well, not the usual - full of much more contrived loquacious wording than normal.

How many of y'all donating to the server? If you use FOSS, what about each of those services?

No? Then frankly I don't care. It's a banner image that was probably made locally on a 3080 that used the equivalent of 5 minutes or less of Baldurs Gate 3 to generate, and isn't being used for profit.

Now, if the owner of c/coffee WAS a business, fuck them. But they aren't. Paying for an image when they already are paying server costs is also inconsiderate.

Now if one of you like OP wants to graciously donate an image, either bought or made yourself, go ahead. You op talk the talk but can you walk the walk? Surely people here spend more than usual on coffee can afford a couple images to donate to the instance, instead of throwing out a ridiculous pompous linguistic embellishment. Could have been a lot more productive to have contacted the mods and offered rather than an articulate word vomit. Until you do though, you're still no different than the people who say they would do something but haven't. This is why FOSS creators etc burn out. If promises could pay bills...

They should be allowed to express their opinion until it becomes tangible and problematic for said outgroup?

Yes. Exactly. That is the fundamental basis of a free society and the legal system. The line is drawn at tangible actions and imminent threats.

Wow, imagine being the person arguing that groups like the Nazis should be allowed into power and killing others before it's time to fight back.

"Ah yes, let's let these people who want to kill and exterminate others lie their way into being able to control all the resources of the government and of course the military before we try to fight back".

You're either a massive idiot useful to such people at best, or you're arguing in bad faith hoping you'll be in the in-group so you can kill those you hate on uneven ground as a coward at worst.
