r/android comment section giving the expected behavior as usual. These news sites know how to be a puppet master, I'm telling ya.

Webite wants to push pro Pixel discussion:

Proceeds to drop a article with a sensationalist title that triggers said Pixel owners.

Comment section is immediately filled with folks declaring how great their Pixel is.

This tactic flip flops between OEMS. It's generally in Samsungs favor but not always.

Disclaimer: Idgf what phone you own. I'm only speaking on what is painfully obvious to me.

I agree. Something I wish we saw more of.

I changed brands of cat litter, apparently an unforgivable transgression.

The very idea of this happening is so ridiculous that I almost don't believe it. It's like some Looney Toons shit.

Without actually reading anything other than the title of the article, which I should prolly do, I'm gonna make this comment anyway.

What apps are you installing that take more than 30 secs?

And eventually, Google will drop this feature for the Pixel as well. You can bank on it. An unlockable bootloader adds absolutely nothing of value to these companies because it slows down year to year buying from consumers and isn't as profitable. It is from their perspective, counter productive to leave this feature enabled. So this isn't surprising in the least, tbh.

Asus and Google used it to bait enthusiasts and as soon as they established a user base they were comfortable with, they will remove it. If the phones stop selling, they will simply stop making them. It's that simple. You keeping your phone updated and feature packed for several years is not how they intend to allow the market to stray.

They want year to year sales above all else. An unlockable bootloader negates that for the majority of those who buy phones with that feature.

I'm curious, what's the recourse here when this happens? Does Google make it right somehow when their own software bricks their own devices?

Or is just "Oops, our bad. Just buy a new one, best of luck!!"?

Does reflashing a ROM fix it? (aside from some data loss, of course)

Of all the companies in all the world, Google is the last company I'd want working on a feature like this, for hella obvious reasons. If it isn't immediately adopted, super-hyped, and constantly worshipped, they will either let it stagnant in development hell or outright kill it in the end.

This is not an unpopular opinion.

It's rage bait.

I took off work today because I feel like death. (strep throat, aching body). I just had DD deliver me a pint of alcohol so I don't have to drag my sick ass out in this weather and risk getting other ppl sick.

I'm gonna make a hot toddy after dinner, lay down and hopefully feel better tomorrow for work. Point is, alcohol delivery is a great service imo. One I'm willing to pay for. It's also one that has stopped my buddy from driving his already drunk ass to the store for more booze.

That alone possibly saved a few lives. Just sayin.

I'm not convinced. This company has purposely avoided OS updates because it's profitable to them. It causes people to buy their phones more frequently over a shorter period of time, thus offsetting the cheaper price they offer them at.

If this is true, I suspect we will see a noticeable increase of price on their phones and much less discounts.

Nah. Enjoy your fantasy. Let us know how it goes.

Edit: is this opinion based on the size of the phone?

It was a Lion King movie. Of course people paid to go see it. Box office profits (tickets sold) do not equate to an enjoyable film.

I've never heard of anyone IRL or online claim that film was worthy of their time.

We all got catfished on that one but I'm not surprised. You cannot remake a classic. It will work only 1 time out of 50. The odds are never good.

Jungle Book was an exception, imo.
