Not OP.

That sucks. Especially having to make poor people financial decisions, you often can't afford to make changes that will save you money in the long run. Been there done that.

Still, there may be some things you can do to save electricity.

Cheapo line meter. I use one on my well pump. It shows usage over time. You can figure out what's using the most juice. It does 200v as well as 110 and clamps on. Does have to be wired in to for it's power supply and ground.

Also, Kill-a-Watt clones. $9.99. Shows you how much plug in things use.

Offhand things that might help:

  • Hot water heater on a timer and turn down the thermostat. There wil be bitching.
  • If you have an electric stove, inductance stoves are supposed to be the most efficent, but you probably can't afford one. Electric kettles for boiling water probably beat using a stove to heat water.
  • Use a kill-a-watt to figure out what is using juice when appliances/TV/PC/etc. is on standbym
  • Check freezer temp, it may be colder than you have to have it, turn up the thermostat.
  • Check anything with a motor that plugs in with the kill-a-watt, like box fans to see if they're pulling too much juice, when the motor bearings get shitty, you'll pull more over coming friction.
  • Use that clamp meter to check things like whole house blower fans, bathroom fans.

Good luck.

Y'all are motherfucking gangsters. Appreciate the work you're putting in. I don't do your kind of code or I'd pitch in. Much love. ♥️

Man, this shit just keeps being funny. The longer it stays funny, the better it affects all involved.

Thank you for bringing this up. Anytime this fuckwit is allowed back in the public eye, this should be right at the top to help invalidate the shit he spews.

For a large chunk of my career, I worked in aerospace and 'defense' machining. Made all kinds parts for all kinds of weapons, it was really cool! Murica! As I got older, I lost my religion, I lost the far right brainwashing I was raised with.

My hands were making weapons that the US government was often selling to other countries. My hands were making weapons to kill various groups of brown people all over the world. It really began to bother me.

I no longer make things to kill people.

Yes, you are culpable for the effects of what you produce in your profession. A thinking person should consider the effects of their work.

I've known several men that were proud that they didn't read books. (Not that they read manga or anything, either.)

One of them, in particuular, was a grown up version of a stereotypical highschool bully. Willfully ignorant doesn't begin to describe him. I ever meet him in a dark alley, I'd fucking gut him.

Anyhow, this behaviour (pride in ignorance) among women is rare enough that I've never seen it. When I was doing online dating, I had great success asking what they're reading and using decent grammar and vocabulary.

Anti-intellectualism and willfull ignorance have a lot to do with the situation here in the US. I think it's mostly a male problem as well.

I like the "No Kings!" messaging, simple and pointed. We need a slogan that is short and sweet for the soldiers to use. Something that shows them they have agency in this.

I actually dated a girl who had a chambered pussy. She was born with mild spina bifida, and there was a scar on her tailbone.

Anyhow, she loved doggy style. I'd get going good and then pop the head of my dick into the alcove, she'd cum her brains out.

Fun times.

I don't think this is correct and would need to see a source before I believe it. I doubt the dimple is adjustable in the way you're describing.

The amount of wear needed to change the volume by a noticable margin would be quite significant. Surface finish of the mold would be degraded enough that they would probably scrap the mold before using an adjustment like this as the mold would have sticking problems.

It might be volumetric compensation, but I doubt it's directly wear related.

The mold is going to be at least two parts that split to get the blown jug out. The jug feedstock probably starts as a molded tube blank with the threads already in it. Would look like a test tube with a milk jug mouth.

Thinking about it, and I suppose you could actually call it wear compensation. Machine the mold with max dimple present. As your parting faces/lines take damage, you reface, and take some off the dimple to compensate for reduced volume. Maybe. That's my best guess if it isn't structual. Usually the rest of the mold has taken enough damage/wear that you're scrapping the entire thing.

Just a note on the efficacy of activist messages in FOSS.

In the Aughts, I was learning to play with microcontrollers. PIC microcontrollers were free as well as the JAL language. I ordered a hardware programmer from the Dutch guy who created JAL: Wouter van Ooijen. Probably my first purchase online. There was a statement in the license, to the effect of, the language could not be used to develop arms.

Looking back, that was a turning point for me. I was machining arms for a living and continued to do so for years. It got me to thinking about what it was that I was producing with my hands. Weapons for killing people.

I thought about it a lot. All these things I was making with blood and sweat being used to kill people. Running machines on night shift gives you time to think.

His statement was, at minimum, at least partially responsible for me changing my mind. I grew past the bad religion and far right ideology that I was taught.

I'm going to send him a thank you note.

Hate those fucken assholes. Pavement princess driving motherfuckers.

It literally takes less than 30 seconds to bend down, pull the cotter clip, pull the pin, and toss the hitch end in the bed. Saves the shins and kneecaps of yourself and everyone else.

Makes me sad.

I actually respect vegans that are vegan to prevent the suffering of animals.

I get it. Grew up farming. Chicken houses are an industrial horror machine.

We've recently bought a play farm and hope to raise or hunt all our meat. Only the slaughter and butchering of steers will be outsourced. Takes some serious equipment to handle an animal that large.

I'm an omnivore by evolution and enjoy meat and hunting. I'm always a little sad when I kill something, however. I figure that sadness means I'm human and is a good thing. When I eat meat from something I killed, it means more. There is a lot of respect involved in it as well something like religion.

If more people had to kill their meat, we would probably live in a very different world and there would be a lot more vegans.

So, most pump POS used to have a labeled or unlabeled mute button. That has become rare.

So far, I've been able to kick all of them into a diagnostic/trouble menu by pressing pairs of keys on each side of the monitor in sequence from the top.

Some of them have a timeout on this screen, but the counter resets when you hit a key.

Passwords can be entered from the keypad, with ok/enter also working. I bet the passwords are the manufacturer default, probably a 5-7 digit number. I was able to find partial training manuals and setup docs from one of the POS vendors but I didn't find a default password or deeper technical docs for the one brand I looked into.

Fucking ads in my face fucking piss me off.

Sitting on the inside here. I'm perpetually astounded as well. Very little of this suprises me anymore but plenty of things shock me.

He's a stereotypical conman; so shallow, so obvious. And yet, my family and former friends continue to slurp up his bullshit. It's so fucking stupid. He's so stupid. On paper, many of these people are smarter than the orange used car salesman.

It's difficult to describe how astounded I really am. Black magic or aliens would make more sense. I would find a novel or show with this unrealistic.

I wonder if I'll ever understand?

Mike Johnson is fucking spooky. I've been saying this for a few years now, when his Covenant Eyes usage made news.

He is a true believer, he's on a mission from god. He's smart. He will not care about the people crushed by the machine, as that is the fruit of their depravity in his worldview.

Watch this motherfucker. Trump and Vance are motivated by greed and power. You need to look to fundamentalist Islamic leaders for a similar mindset to Johnson.

AP telling the same story. Looked like Reuters was, as well, at a quick glance. So I guess this is confirmed.
