Hi! I'm British, I like music (grime, garage, hip-hop, R&B, and more!). I like art, culture, history, politics, & doomscrolling memes.
Also a touch of programming :)

stop manually browsing torrent sites! You're wasting your time.
Download qBittorrent. Download Jackett. Configure Jackett to work inside qBittorrent. You now have a way to search hundreds of trackers all at once within seconds and find literally anything you want.
Honestly IMO it's a bit cringe for me that so many people are like, "fuck these Lemmy apps this [insert unreleased app] is amazing!".
Like calm down, lol. Let's see how it'll be first, a lot of the Lemmy apps are great right now.
Signed, a Reddit Boost user.
this is technically true, but it's not why lemmygrad, ran by full on communists, chose the .ml tld
Well since we're on Lemmy....
https://lemmyverse.net/communities?order=active&nsfw=null < the best way to find active communities and instances on Lemmy.
4.8/5 on the apple store, Lol.
It's depressing how much I see this apps data misread. I feel like DDG needs to implement some sort of disclaimer.
It is misleading for link aggregator apps - any link that you click on or preload that has trackers, will appear, hence why the numbers are so high. It's not Sync itself that's doing this, it's the content that gets posted here...
You will see something similar on any other link aggregator app.
personally I find the whole "duplicate" community thing a bit of a problem. New forums already struggle to maintain activity and this just compounds it by fragmenting them even further.
Discord is a closed garden, it's awful for things like this.
honestly reading this, it just sounds to me like he isn't cut out for community management. It is stressful and hard sometimes, so I get it, but he's going to kill his own site doing this. I did wonder about this before - it seemed like to me he regularly made changes based on feedback on a whim, and these changes were often rushed without much thinking. Needs to know when to pass the baton elsewhere and stick to development, but alas...
The last comments also speak to someone who's probably hiding some contrarian views of his own.
Shame.
That's not what Reddit is anymore, maybe if this idea was proposed 10 years ago they'd consider it, but it's just not an open space anymore.
Would be cool though
arse is 100% pronounced differently to "ass"
Copying an older comment of mine,

It's genuinely hilarious that I wasn't sure if this was a real headline or not. It really does seem like the type of shit they'd write
You won't get banned for using a 3rd-party client or client mod, unless you abuse the API in doing so (which you're not likely to do accidentally).
Anyway, the short answer is: yes.
I think all of the major client mods on PC have anti-tracking plugins. I use Vencord which comes with a "NoTrack" plugin by default (it disables Discord telemetry, metrics, and crash reporting). It also has a "ClearURLs" plugin that removes tracking elements from URLs. BetterDiscord also has similar plugins.
You can couple these with OpenAsar (it's compatible with all client mods - I use it alongside Vencord). Along with speeding up your Discord, it also comes with a "DoNotTrack" plugin that disables discord telemetry.
On Android, you can use Vendetta which, again, has a "NoTrack" Plugin you can add that disables discord telemetry and tracking.
Born into wealth. This is honestly the most likely answer
Beneficial living situation (e.g living with parents) that allows them to save up a significant amount while having minimal expenses. Eventually, they can just take all that money and travel for months on end.
A job that travels with them. Successful vloggers make money through their vlogging, for example
I made a list of good casual Lemmy communities recently that you might find helpful :)
Bonus: don't have time and want to just auto-subscribe to all (please note this isn't reversible without manually unsubbing yourself, there's a lot of niche communities here that may not appeal to you - you can remove them from the JSON file if needed)?
Settings tab, you may wish to untick everything except Upload Community Subscriptions. Failure to do so may result in your Lemmy settings being changed.Upload tab. Then, enter your instance name and login details, click the upload button and upload the JSON file.Of course, some may not be of interest or may overload your feed (meme communities can do this). Unsubscribe as needed.
I wrote this list for a curious person on the other site. It took me awhile, figured I'd share. Finding these places takes more time than I'd care to admit so... hopefully it saves you some, Lol. It's not an exhaustive list by any means, but is mostly places I find of interest and/or I think has good content. But there's definitely others out there I have missed (either intentionally or not). Lemmyverse is a great resource for finding new places.
My rough criterion was:
Yes, but it's also associated with libertarian types who used to populate Reddit back in the day before it became mainstream.
Uhh yes? Hard drives are expensive and so is cloud storage
