Yeah this isn't surprising.
What's funnier is how he acts like a toddler with his hand caught in the cookie jar; blaming it on his imaginary friend or whatever else is convenient to blame at hand.
Make no mistake; this is their plan. For far right extremist believers; this is their most fevered and deepest desire dream. They are, unfortunately, thinking that they are the only ones who are "right" to rule the world; despite how wrong they are and despite literally everything and everyone telling them they CANNOT do that.
To be clear; these kinds of minds have fallen to the trap that religion breeds.
When used in moderation; religion can be helpful for people both mentally and emotionally. It can allow them to cope with, and accept, reality and when they abandon all fear and put faith into something it can bring themselves back to focusing on things more productively.
When used in excess; religion can breed utter lack of reason and sanity. This is the trap. This is when someone loses touch with reality. When you abandon all fear and put faith into something; you become the most reckless thing imaginable; and the damage to the world and others you can do with this is virtually unlimited.
As they say; "The road to Hell is paved with 'Good Intentions'.". There is nothing more dangerous than a fool who believes he is doing the right thing. The foolish cannot be reasoned with, or dissuaded from their path, for they are a fool.
This feels like an obvious bullshit cop-out reason to defederate against a specific community that they don't like for whatever silly reason they can't reveal to the public.
Never have I seen an actual link to content survive very long on lemmy.ml or dbzer0.com. Just like the good old /r/Piracy we discuss piracy, but we do not directly facilitate it.
Someone please slap the back of their heads repeatedly and aggressively with these facts. This excuse is disingenuous as hell.
If you are a user of lemmy.world; RUN. NOW! Find a new instance. Switch away from them before they reach terminal enshitification velocity.
Empress is a neurotic narcissist who needs to be NUKED at every release and HARD MUTED, IGNORED, AND DEPLATFORMED by every sociopathic rant she makes.
We should not be giving her attention by talking about her; she needs to be SHUNNED into OBSCURITY. Let her fucking philosophize in her own damn isolation. Her behavior is unacceptable by most social standards and her contributions to society are not so significant we can't do without them.
It's sad that a teacher could possibly have no private life. It's even more questionable how the account was "found". I see no one is mentioned as having found it and reported it.
I think it was foolish of the district to fire her; if no student knew about it. The article also neglects to mention parental outrage; so it would seem that not even a parent discovered this either.
If all of this was done explicitly outside of the school, off grounds, and not mentioned ever; it makes no sense other than a few adults finding it awkward.
She's such a narcissist that she couldn't stay out of the spotlight. lol.
Regardless; I doubt that any game she could develop would be any good; and I shudder to think of what deranged DRM scheme she will cook up to protect her own game. It'll probably be worse than Denuvo, knowing how unstable she is.
Genuinely, the scene is better without her hate filled screeds polluting the web. Her abilities might be appreciated more if she got some mental help and she could rejoin the scene as a positive force; not someone who lets their ego run rampant and spews hate at the slightest provocation.
Unfortunately the scene is too cowardly to NUKE her output into obscurity until she cleans her spew up.
Worse:
"I'm aware that you're paying nearly $30 a month for our Ad-Free tier; but this content creator still demands we put Ads on this shit. Here's an Ad!" Crashes and refuses to begin playback again when your browser that's configured to block those ads blocks it.
If you care about privacy; you tell your employer clearly that you do not tolerate "Boss-ware" or other spyware on your personal devices.
If they give a shit; they will then be forced to issue one that the company owns and manages. If they don't give a shit; you walk away. Lots of companies will hire you without that crap. Don't believe people who gaslight you by saying "But every company uses it!" or anything sounding remotely like it.
On a company-issued machine; you tell your employer clearly that you do not tolerate "Boss-ware" that will be used to track or manage your time. Walk away; if they refuse to keep your machine clean of it or attempt to raise any concern that you're not at your PC every damned moment of your core hours. You have a right to live your life. As long as your immediate bosses and supervisors are happy with the quality and quantity of the work you submit, you've done your job. If they are unhappy with the quality or quantity of your work then, they can respectfully schedule a meeting with you to discuss it. The way an actual adult should be treated, and, would be treated in an actual office that observes all standard rules of professionalism. With respect.
TL;DR: Do not accept the implementation of Boss-ware as if the decision was made with any professionalism or respect for you. If they implement it; you leave as fast as possible. Take any friends that you can with you too, if you can.
The homogenization of these icons has been a long source of consternation for me.
They're barely functional as icons; you can scroll right by them and miss them; which makes finding the apps in a list of apps a bit annoying sometimes. Removing each icon's unique color scheme and replacing it with the 'company 4 colors' was the stupidest fucking idea ever.
Even more infuriating is how they keep renaming the applications to unexpected things every so often; so they move around; and it's dreadfully annoying to remember if they prefixed the name of the app with a G or something else completely different, which renders strict alphabetical sorting a bit moot.
Even if the punishment is largely symbolic and Google only pays a tiny (compared to it's massive size) fine; I'd still call that a significant win.
I'd say the story shows more character than anything.
Meaning "This politician sometimes knows how to realize when they're obsessed with something and will take steps to make sure they back off of it".
I like when politicians have functioning frontal lobes and can self-moderate. Usually it makes them far less extremist, or likely to be extreme in their viewpoints.
Fuck /u/Spez
Sorry; the above is mandatory these days when talking about enshittified reddit.
I'd say it very strongly looks like Spez is doing exactly what it looks like. I can attest from my days as a meta-subreddit-mod and reddit mod that this behavior tracks exactly with any time Spez thinks he's planning an unpopular change; they pucker up hard and start bracing things they think will be affected.
Probably, it is Old.Reddit; because it likely does not add to their revenue. Old.reddit interface was not designed with advertising in mind and it is purely functional first only.
Of course; by editing or removing old.reddit interfaces; they will be lobotomizing their moderation teams. The new reddit interface provides far less control and granular information; making it difficult at times to moderate without falling back to the old.reddit interface.
Undoubtedly they will likely also try to freeze, disable, or cripple AutoModerator /config/ pages, if they haven't already, or revert them as well when this new enshittification masquerading as a "small positive change" drops. It's hard to say.
Instead of recognizing their moderators as major stakeholders who have chosen to build their communities on reddit; they have chosen violence, and are treating them like enslaved serfs. Hmm...I wonder if that means they could possibly be breaking modern slavery laws... Until Next Time!
Fuck /u/Spez
Leave reddit now.
<3 Melody.
Personally I agree with the OP; and I refuse to use Brave. This isn't based in dislike of cryptocurrency in general; but I DESPISE both ADVERTISING AND SHITCOINS (Basically any token or sub-token of a main standalone blockchain that has no real, significant, usable real world value).
Therefore Brave DOES NOT reflect my values. I don't care if advertising networks make any money, I actively hate them enough I want to deprive them due to their behaviors anyway for being so violently anti-user.
I don't use Chrome or Brave because they DO NOT reflect my beliefs regarding web standards either, and I refuse to allow Google and the Chromium and Chrome project to dictate standards either. Particularly of note is their utter failure with both FLOC and WEB-INTEGRITY; both of which are stupidly retarded anti-user and anti-privacy features which are horrible.
Legitimately I question that this is even newsworthy.
It appears that these women are harming nobody and are partaking of the drug(s) safely and sensibly in a manner that ensures that no one is being significantly endangered. Yes the residual dangers exist and bad trips can happen to pretty much anyone. I don't feel as if they're even posing a danger to their children; if this is in fact being done in such a way that the kids are never being exposed to their parents while they're in an altered mental state due to hallucinogenic intoxication. If it isn't; yeah; I could see why a local branch of child services might pay them a visit. However, I'm not going to make that negative assumption.
I don't particularly commend the women, nor the news outlet, for coming out about this though; it is still very much technically illegal by current law. But, I also do agree that the stigma attached to drug use, even when done so responsibly, is in fact ridiculous and stupid in general. However, I don't see a better way of achieving what that does...so I couldn't suggest any better alternatives and I don't support going back to a previous era in Law where drugs that factually are provably dangerous, for some reason, are not regulated. Reasonable and Sensible Regulations on dangerous Drugs are REQUIRED; it's just that some people have a different definition of 'Reasonable and Sensible' which has to be ironed into a proper consensus for society.
Yes. Both countries have highly invasive laws and will demand access to many things.
DO Bring a completely clean and clear Burner Phone. Do not log into anything on it, do not download any apps, or sideload necessary apps when you can, do not do anything besides basic activation.
DO invest in personal private cloud storage but make sure it's hosted somewhere SAFE and that you won't have issues getting through the Great Firewall (China) to it. Make sure you paid up to host it for the duration of your stay BEFORE you leave your home country.
You are not freaking out! It's perfectly fine to protect your privacy and it is NOT illegal. You cannot predict when or if you will have a run-in with local authorities in some countries. It's best if those authorities have nothing to hold you on.
Having a clean, secure, and private device which does not leak any unnecessary information about you when seized is ideal.
Not only did they guess it should be updated; they even left plenty of mechanisms directly in the constitution that allowed for it to be updated radically whenever situations changed so drastically that a supermajority agrees that it should be changed.
Unfortunately that too is the downfall; as those who want to exploit the status quo are also empowered to leverage their money and power to prevent such a majority from taking place. The constitution is far from perfect, and it absolutely should've been amended many hundreds of times over, not just the paltry less than 30 times we've managed to do so already.
Here's a rule for uBlock Origin.

People need to stand firm against the needless RTOs and demands to be present in a workplace where your work consists largely of things you can do safely from the privacy of your own home.
Without more mass resignations when companies start to roll out RTOs like this; they will never learn. If you work at such a company; start looking for another job, even if you are willing to work in the office a few days a week. Punish them harshly for enforcing RTOs.
