"Some of you may die, but it's a sacrifice I am willing to make"

Why do we only seem to get the bad outlandish things from books and movies? :/

Gotta say, using 3 just feels like giving up due to laziness, even in 1200BC.

Also it's interesting how the Chinese entries basically stop between 1400 and 1949, whereas European names are far more present during this era. Some Japanese ones, too. I wonder how comprehensive this page is.

You're getting downvoted because, for all their faults, the SPD is not run by fascists, quasi-fascists or "morally conflicted fascist-adjacent". Neither has this ever been the case, nor is it going to happen in the foreseeable future. You're not even in the ballpark of correct. Best case scenario is that you like to use the word "fascist" inflationarily. But even that wouldn't be much better, as it effectively downplays the threat of and the horrors committed by actual fascists.

If you'd referred to the SPD as a party run by something like a cumulation of unimaginative, spineless and corrupt conservatives larping as social democrats, there'd be some grounds for discussion. This, instead, just makes you look like a troll.

To be honest, I'm only replying because I do not want your comment to stand on its own.

The twist is that it's a shapeshifting killer robot from the movie Terminator 2, specifically a T-1000 sent back in time to kill the child in question. The biker, on the other hand is an older (non-shapeshifting) killer robot model also sent back in time (to protect the kid from the newer model).

Still not a fan of pizzacakecomics. The ones that are supposed to be funny aren't, imho, and the political ones are way too heavy-handed for my taste.

I mean, don't get me wrong, I agree with the content, but for a comic that's on the reddit frontpage all the time it's an incredibly crude way of getting the point across.

We do, and Ireland, Denmark and Poland have gotten opt-outs, too (link). The United Kingdom, however, was so extreme about it, that Wikipedia dedicated an entire article just to their opt-outs.

The UK was no founding member of the EU by choice, if I remember correctly. And later on, they only joined due to the financial prospects, not the underlying idea(ls). They always acted as though they were special when they were part of the union (see aforementioned opt-outs) and completely lost it during the Brexit negotiations, when they acted as though they had some sort of leverage over the entire EU. I quite like CGP Grey's video on the topic: youtube.com

In my opinion, the French were right when they didn't want the British to join the union; most of their initial reservations did come true, after all. So, if the UK rejoined the common market without joining the EU, like Norway, for example, that would be fine by me. But no more.

As long as the British do not change their overall stance to the EU much more (and come to terms with their non-specialness), anyway.

Am I the only one who finds it really weird when people refer to themselves as mom or dad of their pets? Yikes

Can't really be for the EU, either, as it includes Norway and excludes Germany. Not exactly what I'd call beautiful data.

It was already cheesy at that point, but the part where they were down on the ground & just happened to stumble upon an F-14, took that into the air & used it to defeat much newer airframes really took me out of the immersion.

Honestly, if they'd found a ww1 byplane and the copilot had used a bucket to scoop air from the inside after they got hit or a paddle to make them fly faster, I wouldn't have found it much more cheesy.

I can certainly give it a try. manucode beat me to it. Anyhow: The channel you've been watching is probably a/the tv channel for children (by Austrian public broadcast services, most likely). At night, when children are supposed to be sleeping, they don't have any real programmes and instead loop a clip specifically made for this purpose starring that loaf of bread.

The bread itself is called "Bernd das Brot" (Bernd the bread) and was created by the german tv channel called kika (Kinder Kanal, literally children channel in English). I'm not sure in which show he first appeared in (there have been quite a few, plus some movies), but he's been a recurring character for over 20 years now, afaik. Oh and Bernd is a typically depressed loaf of bread who would prefer to be left alone so he could stare at woodchip wallpaper all the time. Unfortunately for him, he is typically accompanied/bothered by at least two other characters – Briegel the Bush and Chili the sheep, a crazy inventor and an equally crazy stunt err sheep, respectively. Bernd tends to be the butt of more than a few jokes.

Would it really be that great for the EU, though? After all, the UK was never particularly fond of the European idea generally and further integration (i.e. federalization) in particular, to put it mildly. My biggest fear is the UK might go back blocking just about anything that goes beyond simple trade deals.

So, imho, the EU would be better off it the UK simply rejoined the common market, but not the political union. We have more than enough dissent, as is.

Hang on, Nintendo fans are into findom? That would explain a few things. On a related note, I think I finally understood why people keep giving Chris Roberts money for Star Citizen.

These types of window are great until you want to get AC in a rental & realize that you now need to attach 1-2 hoses to them whilst also getting a good seal. Then you'd actually prefer the American style slide-up windows (ask me how I know) :/
