If you're asking in good faith.... Most of lemmy.ml is a tankie echo chamber that silences or outright bans any dissenting discussion.

Try bringing up the facts surrounding Russia, China, Cuba, or North Korea...

Only lies and good vibes for tankies are permitted.

If you're in an area that doesn't freeze you can keep the house cold and heat one room with an electric oil filled radiator very inexpensively.

If you're in a place that freezes you need to keep the house warm enough to avoid freezing the water pipes.

Otherwise have fun, heat one room and bundle up everywhere else.

It's a good option to have, imo. People will try to commit suicide, even without this.

They'll fail and become a larger burden to society in a lot of cases. Or run up medical bills and exist miserably.

With this method, folks who are interested have to clear a hurdle beyond their own emotions and survival instincts.

If they're committed to the act, this ensures a dignified end vs many terminal conditions.

Suffering near end of life can be horribly tortuous. The ability to end the suffering on your terms with dignity is a benefit to society and those suffering.

Do you feel hospice care is a bad thing? It's one step removed from assisted suicide in many ways.

In hospice care they often give you enough drugs to end it quickly, and instruct the caregivers to NOT call emergency services.

We're all going to die, at least we can make it somewhat civil.

Watch it. It's really there. Starts shortly after 44:34 (39:00) on the timestamp. That should be enough context.

I searched for "One Rough Hour" in the transcript to find the section.

https://www.c-span.org/...

*edit: A Clip that I found the quote directly from: https://x.com/Acyn/status/1840483582433009711

*edit 2: I hate this speech. I hate C-Span's Text Links to Video Anchors. They're horrible. Another point at 39:00 exactly he says "See we have to let the police do their job, and if they have to be extraordinarily rough... " *edit 3: At 41:00: "One Rough Hour.."

If successful, they're going to purge the military of non loyalists who believe the constitution is more than a doormat. The goal is to violate posse comitatus it seems.

I wouldn't cheer this on.

I googled it and found a literal trove of evidence.

Here's a starting point since it's eluded you for so long.

Not trying to be rude, the media cycle buried that result.

The unions got the sick leave, after the media reported the strike ended without it.

It was accomplished a couple weeks later, if I recall correctly.

If i understand the graphic correctly... That only removes the pustule of the pimple. We still have an underlying kakistocracy to deal with. In this analogy, we're the blood cells trying to defend the organism. We have to isolate the infection in the whole system and negate it. The infection analogy holds works as the infected absolutely stop responding to logic and normal stimuli, operating on a separate code.

I've said it before, he's only part of the problem. There is an an entire corporatocracy/plutocracy/kakistocracy driving this forward too.

If he was gone, i expect we'd have a headless chicken executing project 2025, and a LOT of work left to do.

Your link disagrees with you. Hoping nobody pays attention? Hoping for up votes?

False fact post, bad faith actor, or llm. All 3?

From your link: "You can still get burned with long enough exposure."

A second department, no less, to improve efficiency in the government.

The GAO exists.

Are two efficiency offices more efficient than one?

To be accurate, those were actions they (Canada and Mexico) have either taken in the past or committed to in the past for other administrations. They simply confirmed prior commitments.

Trump and the state news apparatus acted like this was new and that it was a win. Also promised 30 days without a tariff against them.

A week later he still applied tariffs on steel and aluminum.

Which will impact Canada, Mexico, the world, and ultimately the price of a huge segment of goods used or made by American industry.

They're also retaliating with equal tariffs.

We're alienating allies all over the globe.

People in my area/life (most) aren't given sick days and are expected to use their short (if even able) PTO allotments. If they take a vacation and get sick later - their options are work or miss bills. To me, I understand why folks tough it out. I'd like society to care about health for the whole, most can't afford to do that.

They're denying quorum to the state assembly in order to prevent redistricting. That act would hand ~5 seats to the Republican party in Congress.

Here's something from the Texas tribune. Worked with an ad blocker.

They said oil filled radiator, not oil burning. I expect it's a very efficient electric heater like these:

https://www.homedepot.com/...

If they are trying to keep one room warm and don't care about freezing the rest of the house those are very efficient.

A lot of old consoles are actually based on standard CPUs for the most part. Look at the history of the 6502 for example. Emulating the hardware can be done if time is taken to reverse engineer all the layers into an emulator.

Part of the issue, to me, can be if all the work is done and then copyright disputes arise- all work has to be removed from the public.
