I never understood why my dad was always so cheap until now.

You “used” to pay this much for something and now it skyrocketed, so you can’t live with yourself paying that higher price when it has been much cheaper for so long. Maybe he thought prices were going to come down again.

I don’t think the prices of RAM are ever going to come down. At least as long as people keep paying, which they do.

I’m exhauseted with AI and AI news. It’s why I had to leave Reddit. It has ruined everything that I enjoy.

The post that did it for me was some guy saying “I have absolutely no idea what I’m doing but I had claude port sonic cd to the Saturn”

It’s just endless hyperdrive of slop. Everyone is a “coder” now. It’s sad.

Whenever someone at work says "ChatGPT says this" or "Claude says this" or "I asked Gemini and..." whatever they say after that point is just static and I never take them seriously as a person again.

I just hate the feeling of chatting with something that is designed to sound human when I got into software devrlopment because I got tired of dealing with people in the first place.

From my perspective natural language isn’t expressive enough to describe a computer program and that’s why programming languages were created. That’s one of the reasons you gotta keep prompting over and over again.

Couple that with the gambling type feeling I get when I use them (keep rolling the dice until something is spit out that “works”), just feels gross to me.

It’s really depressing to me because I really enjoy programming and I know there are tons out there like me who have had the same passion with it.

If you are a senior level dev you will spend less time writing your own code than ai and you will understand it better, and will not slowly lose your critical thinking skills in the process.

I am still more productive not using ai than anyone else on my team who uses it.

Have they walked back copilot in notepad yet? That’s when I got fed up and switched, but I don’t go back now even if they do get rid of it.

It’s “id”, not Identification document software.

Not so much song but album.

First, listen to Ministry - With Sympathy

Next, listen to any other ministry album

We shouldn’t be integrating AI into our lives though. AI sucks.

I grew up as a computer nerd kid in the 90s with my first computer being a 386 DX 66mhz off brand IBM PC clone with 8mb ram.

I was put on this earth to do computer stuff no doubt about it. I was the first on my block with dialup. I was the first on my block with DSL. I was the first kid on my block with cable internet. Taught myself C when I was 15 and and a software engineer professionally over a decade without any college education.

With that being said, what we call “AI” (LLMs) completely exhausts me and I have absolutely no interest about AI garbage. I am depressed because AI exists to cheapen literally everything I have a passion for.

When I was young I always wanted to be at the head of technology and always stay up to date with it I’d read books and news daily. Always had a genuine passion for it, but I can’t stand it now.

I just stay stuck in the 90s and play old consoles like PlayStation and N64. That gives me comfort and I know there’s no AI slop in those games.

And if it’s anything like my Dualsense, needs to be charged all the time. I basically use it as a wired controller now and barely use my PS5

As much as I want them to, I don’t think they will. Incredibly expensive to retool manufacturing to produce the tubes again. Who knows though maybe a rich retro gamer would invest.
