It really depends on who is being helped and the motive for you “helping” them. I’ve had both really good and pretty bad experiences helping and trying to help people with various computer things. As with providing any kind of support, it’s important to get out of your own head and understand what the person your helping wants and needs

apt is a newer tool that combines the functionality of apt-get and apt-cache. It’s not as backwards compatible but has a nicer more human readable output

I’m not a huge fan of it myself, but it’s easy enough to block and move on with my life. Enough people seem to like it that I don’t think it’s worth taking down as long as whoever is developing it is still interested in the project.
