Normally there is some confusion for memes without any context added. Apparently no need in this case! 😄

I am pretty sure that the Britannica is not an American publication.

The last time I was in the UK a train left 2 minutes early. I was already on, but found this shocking. I can hardly imagine my white hot rage if I was running for the train and it left early.

My son found the Next Gen that I had on a USB stick in the TV, and is now working his way through.

We do watch one TOS episode a week as my homework for The Greatest Trek.

Anyway, it's awesome having offspring who are into Star Trek too.

3 minutes? In many places that's called "on time". 😅

I'm a foreigner and the last time I was in Germany it ended up being a nightmare of delays and me running across stations desperately trying to get out of Germany.

I think this vaccine was especially upsetting for right wing folks, since it is for a sexually transmitted virus, and works best if given to people before they become sexually active. Telling God-fearing Christians that they need to vaccinate their pre-pubescent girls for sexually transmitted diseases was always going to be a tough fight.

Amazing to think of a world where rural people are progressive!

Unions have both been supporters of all workers, and used to exclude anyone not already a worker, depending on the particular union and the time and place.

It's disappointing, since it causes class division. 😞

Yes , but also here in the Netherlands farmers are often radically right-wing.

I use Jottacloud for off site restic backups. You have to use rclone, but it's not too tricky. I don't know how well it works outside of Europe. It's cheap and can store terabytes of data!

Mostly accurate, although the flight delays tend to be announced one short delay at a time. "We're going to be a few minutes late pulling out from the gate." "We missed out takeoff window, so we're going to have a 20 minute delay." "We need to refile our paperwork, so we're heading back to the gate." "Ground crew changed shift, so we need another 45 minutes." And so on...

What I find weird is that people seem to find it very important to say that they don't like Pizza Cake. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

The chocolate brand Tony Chocolonely in the Netherlands has uneven pieces. It's to remind us that the world is unfair.

I believe it.

I worked with an Englishman who has lived in the Netherlands for more than 20 years without learning Dutch.

We had a work trip to Madrid, and he went the weekend beforehand for a short vacation. I ran into him on Sunday night and asked him how it went. He said it was terrible, because he's a vegetarian and couldn't eat anything because nobody spoke English. He didn't know what to order or how to ask if something was vegetarian. He was outraged that nobody spoke English. In Madrid. The capital of Spain. 🙈

I give money to LibreOffice, Thunderbird, Armbian, the Wikipedia, and so on. I don't have to, but it shows my appreciation, and maybe helps them do more in some small way.

Aviation is about 2.5% of global emissions.

In the long run then yes, we need carbon neutral fuels, but it should be possible for people to fly a little and not destroy the planet.
