Don't worry, I'm fine.
One: 65 years, while long, is not "multiple life sentences." Two: The 65 years was shortly thereafter reduced to 55 years, though I am not finding any details on why. That 55 years was 30 for felony murder and 25 for burglary and theft (???), consecutively. Three: Body cam shows A'Donte Washington charging the officer with a drawn weapon, so this does not appear to be a case of abuse of force. Four: A later court changed those to run concurrently, making it an effective 30 years. In this hearing, the victim's own father made a statement that Smith did not deserve to be charged with his son's death. Five: This screenshot is dated less than a week after the original sentencing.
Other notes: There were five teens involved in this burglary, Smith was the only one who did not take a plea deal. The day before this burglary, Smith and others were involved in the murder of another man. The stolen car used in the burglary came from yet another murder. I have to think it was a difficult argument for the defense to make, that Smith "did not intend to hurt anyone." The prosecution surely had an easier time framing this in terms of "Smith was at least present when someone was murdered the day before [it may have been a short time, hours, since the earlier murder was "around midnight" and I don't see what time of day the later burglary occurred]. He had to know that continuing to commit crimes with the same group of people could end with death, and still pressed on."
Whatever your opinion about this situation, you will be better served by presenting it alongside a more complete and accurate respresentation of facts than this screenshot of a tweet contains.
Mangione, 26, appeared in court wearing a green cable knit sweater over a white shirt. He was brought into the courtroom in leg and arm shackles and wearing a bulletproof vest.
Theater to make him look like a villain that people want to shoot at.
Because screenshots of what someone said on social media aren't journalism:
Mexico has restrictive laws regarding gun possession. There are only two stores in the entire country, DCAM near the capital, and OTCA, in Apodaca, Nuevo León. It also takes months of paperwork to have a chance at purchasing one legally.
She's said she'll be at ABC on Sep 10, and looks forward to debating Trump in the time and place he previously agreed to. She's holding his feet to the fire on this, I don't expect there to be any agreement on any other debate until this one is over.
I'm gonna need more than somebody's social media post on this.
Edit: Because right now it's "somebody's" social media post with an unsourced and undated quote from "someone" referring to "reporting," with a picture of a lady that has a PBS/NewsHour watermark. This is exactly the kind of thing you should be skeptical of in the absence of better confirmation, all up and down that ladder of vagueness.
I've been watching Monk recently, without ads, and it's very interesting how television shows used to be written and edited for commercials. It's dead obvious where the commercials used to be, and even that detracts from the overall experience.
My wife has accused me of mansplaining when I really was just sharing the information I had in my head about "the thing" because I was proud of myself about that.
There's also the "You may already know all this, but it's worth saying out loud anyway."
I'm not saying mansplaining isn't a thing - it certainly is - but there are other innocent "info dump" kinds of things that can look like mansplaining but weren't intended to be. I try to be very clear about why I am info dumping when I do, but I'm not always able to catch myself in time.

Everyone please take note:
Barron Trump has been 100% unmentioned by anyone except when he was going to speak at some gathering, as an adult. Then, when he decided not to do that, everyone stopped talking about him entirely.
That is how you do that. If an adult is getting invovled in politics, they're fair game, regardless of who they're related to. People who aren't involved in politics, you leave them the fuck out of it.
“Your running mate, J.D. Vance, has said that you would veto [an abortion ban] if it did come to your desk,” said ABC News anchor Linsey Davis, referring to Vance’s statement last month that Trump “explicitly” told him that he would veto a federal abortion ban.
“Well I didn’t discuss it with J.D., in all fairness. And I don’t mind if he has a certain view, but I don’t think he was speaking for me,” Trump said on the debate stage, before stumbling through the rest of his words. “We don’t have to discuss it.”
When JD Vance says that Trump "'explicitly' told him that he [Trump] would veto a federal abortion ban", I believe JD Vance. Whatever was happening in the room at the time, Trump thought that that statement would be most beneficial to him personally in that moment. When Trump said the opposite thing in the debate, it's because he thought that would be most beneficial to him personally in that moment.
The only thing that matters to Trump is what he thinks is best for him personally right now. Ethics are irrelevant. Legality is irrelevant. Continuity is irrelevant. Reality is irrelevant. He does not remember the past and he cannot conceive of the future. "Me, now" is the only thing that matters to him. There is no big picture. His entire universe is a singularity of "me, now."
Whatever you do, don't email anything at all to DEIAtruth@opm.gov. Especially do not make them aware of "parties with lemons" or "girl in a tub" or "Swedish (SE) goat".
