Years ago I was asked to make a website to educate the public and promote a campaign to bring back a formerly-declared-extinct species.

There were scientists, zoologists, researchers and volunteers in the field who did the REAL work. I had the easy part.

But when the website was launched, I received 'thank you' emails from all over the world. Reading all of those letters was one of the most rewarding feelings.

And the best part . . . Though it's still a threatened species (I'm told recovery potential is strong), today there are more than 500 of these animals living in the wild.

I'm having a tough time finding it. I found this citation from an article that appeared to reference the same four year study.

And Greenland. They forgot Greenland.

Japanese Maple. Had one by the front door of the house I grew up in. Reminds me of my childhood home.

This is a free PDF version of a book she developed while working on her Masters Degree in Food Studies. She still offers it as a free download on her site but I believe you need to subscribe to her online newsletter (also free) to access it.

I'm no animal expert , but I've heard that some farmers will put llamas on their land to protect their other livestock from coyotes (I guess llamas are known to trample coyotes?).

Do donkeys exhibit the same behaviors? I'm just attempting to hypothesize why a donkey would "charge" a group of K-9s.

It was a red and green plastic pencil sharpener shaped like a dachshund. You stuck your pencil in his butt. I stole it from a desk in Sunday School. I stole from God.

One trick my mom used:
She was often hired to sing at funerals and weddings. We lived in a small town so she knew a lot of the people. She was always afraid that seeing the family cry would cause her to break down mid song. She had poor vision so she would take her contacts out before performing.

Sometimes I feel like I'm on the "Lord of the Flies" island; we've ignored the scientists and now the whole place is burning down.

I got it from this totally legit article.

I know it's legit because it has a picture of a Man Working At Home With A Laptop, Wearing A Shirt.

Wow. I never considered executive functioning and neurodivergent related behaviors as predictable patterns for insurance companies to exploit, but you're absolutely right.

IIRC, "Mort" was on the list of potential full-length animated feature movies for Disney at one time. The project was nixxed when Pratchett's estate wouldn't release licensing. Clements and Musker (directors of "Little Mermaid" and "Aladdin") switched gears and produced "Moana" instead.
