Once put one of those plastic wrapped potatoes in my uniform apron to put back in produce at my first retail job (got abandoned in the mac and cheese section). I then completely forgot and took it home. Took it out of my apron and put it on my desk next to my car keys because "I'll remember to take it back". I did not. Lived with me for a week or something when I finally put it in my apron again because I wasn't remembering. I took it to work. I completely forgot about it and never returned it. It made this trip several times. I put it back on my desk because this wasn't working out, surely I'll remember if I see it.

Then I forgot about it for like three months. One day I look over at my desk and it's a shriveled potato with a new potato growing from its own husk...

In essence, potatoes are amazing and horrifying. Just like my short term memory lol.

Faik the worry isn't from wine the emperor drank (though I think the consensus is he did take a hell of a lot of mercury as medicine believing it'd give immortality). It's the described artistic floor map of China (at the time) with the rivers of liquid mercury suggested as being real by the high mercury readings.

Sometimes it's just a passion project by crazy people. My town has a shack on a busy non-walkable intersection without even parking spaces that sells only angel figurines. Let me be clear, this isn't general angel knickknacks, this isn't specific saints, it's angel figurines ONLY. You will find no bless this house signs. No Christmas tree toppers or ornaments. Not a single holiday decoration, religious or otherwise. You won't even find Jesus on the cross.

Angel. Figurines. Only. I always assumed it was a front for something until my mom helped with some taxes for them. No, it's just one crazy couple who are obsessed with the sanctity of the angel figurine. They feel very strongly about it and asking if they do garden angels now that spring's coming up and you'd love to patronage them is apparently offensive enough for them to take their taxes elsewhere lol.

Honestly feels like their only mistake was not making it roomba sized with an outer mini railing that would keep the roomba from falling off AND they could hang decorations from it. Really didn't think about how they could multipurpose this.

ETA I retract somewhat, they could be total mavericks and get a long extension for their vacuum and then tape it to an RC car. Is it a lot of extra work? Yes. Would it be amazingly fun? Also yes. Especially if you hook up catnip spreader basket on the back (though maybe that's unsafe, probably don't encourage your cat to weed and balance beam).

Most Olympic athletes are young and wear fashion athletic clothes donated by endorsers who help pay them. In addition in the shooting category you're (as I understand it) allowed a certain amount of tech to help you out. This man is older, didn't wear the endorsed fashion clothes or the tech and won gold silver so he feels like a rare "every man" win in the Olympics. He is not an "every man" (believe he's a decorated military and police man in his country), but a lot more people can relate to him winning gold silver than a 14 year old who's been training for this since diapers in a fashion house outfit.

If you read the article, this isn't a rarest ending like the headline says. There is an ending playing as Lae'zel most players don't take because it's a bad ending that obviously ends the story. The ending being talked about is a hacked ending that was maybe an idea at one point to get to the above ending via an alternative path, but wasn't ultimately implemented. I wouldn't even call this an ending frankly. It's more "there's some game files that can lead to each other if X or Y is marked, but actually can't because Z being marked cuts that path off". More of a glitch than anything.

Just feathers pinned to it. Was common to have overly decorated hats if you could afford it in ways we wouldn't consider fashionable today (Mrs. True's hat looks like a modern flower cake also lol). This tradition is not dead, for some modern examples check out the royal ascot races, kind of a fun/funny tradition.

Honestly just miss everyone working together. I only did about 1.5 seasons each of Picard and Discovery, but I just couldn't take all the "the enemy is each other". If I wanted that I'd watch the expanse? Ftr I will watch them in entirety and fully judge at that point, rn I haven't so can't say they offer nothing. SNW seems to get it though which I appreciate and hope continues. There are so few optimistic sci-fi shows I really want trek to stick to that niche.

I have a shallow dish for my cat and he still does this... He just doesn't believe seeing the bottom is natural lol.

(Before anyone says anything yes the dish is flat, I bought it for my hedgehog to eat without having to clamber and then had to swap their dishes when he discovered the shallow dish was light enough for him to toss around for fun lol)

Some cats just like the floor. Not all cats like being on squishy surfaces either. Mine hates the bed whenever we stay somewhere with a western bed, but if I put a food tray I got for a $1 from goodwill next to me you can bet his ass will be there lol.

Sometimes they just make up whole new stories (Bleach) or say fuck it and go their own way (Fullmetal Alchemist). I feel like the more accepted recent approach though is having a mini-series of an arc which has normal pacing (actually even often accelerated pacing cause they only get 12 episodes) and then just putting the show on hold.

And then you have when the anime affects the manga and the manga starts stretching the story out for "content" (feel like this happened with My Hero Academia and Welcome to Demon School! Iruma-kun). If it was a novel that's being published on a pay by chapter platform you're just completely fucked because they (generally) follow the Mark Twain model of pay per word so once a story gets popular that shit absolutely gets milked into the ground. If you're lucky they waited to do the anime until the comic adaption was half done at which point the novel will hopefully be done...

This reminds me of the time I went on vacation with my brother (solid coke only guy; ftr I don't drink soda, I drink tea, that's a whole other meltdown in similarity lol) and we wound up in a "1950's" cosplaying shopping square. Coke memorabilia EVERYWHERE. My brother was dying cause all the stores and restaurants we'd been to were Pepsi only. He excitedly goes into the convenience store with a display window full of coca cola bottles, a coca cola fridge and a COCA COLA SOLD HERE sign.

Pepsi only lol. Next time we went on vacation I bought him a 24 pack ahead of time and made space for it in my suitcase.

Personally don't really find the snack sized Cthulhu aspect that interesting. What really interests me about them is the lore about them once being a great empire of douchebags who were overthrown by those they oppressed (gith) who then took their place politically and now hunt them down. Says a lot BG3 focused on this lore over the Cthulhu monster aspect. Just some good lore building which could have (and I'm sure has) gone to any other races.

Honestly feel this... Will say for how much being a teenaged girl sucked I did learn the power of gaslighting and peer pressure which helped a lot. My dad and mom were always brawling with my sister and after it got used on me by my peers I realized since my dad was a momma's boy I could always threaten to tell my grandma, my mom was a religious nut so I could always bring up the devil and as long as I rearranged their arguments as "you're the crazy person" they couldn't figure out how to say shit back and would go away. I mean....still got bullied in winterguard, but weirdly helped my home life.

(If you want to know my sister unfortunately died at 30 of natural causes, I'm practically NC with my dad and my mom found a religious cult who helped her with anger management so we're mostly cool now + she's no longer in the cult cause one of them claimed to curse her with a demon so worked out somehow...)

It's funny I did a rewatch recently and I realized he's kind of obsessed about her the way Julian is about him and she kind of treats him the same way. Julian wants to play darts, nah he wants to go hang with Keiko, nah Keiko wants to get back to having a a career, he should go hang with Julian! Now Miles is making the face Julian made when he ditched Julian lmao
