Fedi is decentralized and can't be taken over like that. Even if the biggest instances all went bad, you'd still be able to keep participating however you like on a smaller or solo instance and the worst they could do is defederate you.

This is the right way, but you will have to deal with FOSS devotees grumbling because your software doesn't meet the OSI's definition of open source.
I'm torn; ideologically I like the idea of "open means open," but in practice that seems to result in corporations taking endlessly from FOSS while giving little to nothing back (or giving nothing but bug reports). How do projects like Blender get away with it?
It's not too uncommon for journals to include op-eds critical of the journal itself. Usually the author is responding to a previously published article (hence the "op"), but they can also criticize the journal's practices or call for broader change in the industry.
TikTok and Instagram are very picky about language and will algorithmically suppress you if you use words they deem to be "brand-risky." As a response we now have people on social media training themselves to cover up letters in perfectly normal words, say "unalive" instead of "die/kill," etc.

32 out of 36 games on the main Browse page are tagged "horror," good grief.
Mashing is rarely a concern in fighting game cheats, it's either inhuman reactions (hard to distinguish from a lucky guess) or always guessing right on plus/oki situations.
More complex cheats don't activate every time; it's basically impossible to measure whether your opponent in Street Fighter has a "auto perfect parry 15% of the time" cheat running.
