Very insightful and well written! These Age verification laws are going too far and were never about the kids to being with.

I’ve never heard of Amnezia VPN, but agree with Mullvad. ProtonVPN is also up there

Set a realistic threat level that meets your balance of privacy/convienience and stick to it. I know it is easier said than done, but once you start to get used to it, then you can think about making slight adjustments to better your privacy here and there. If you try to go full privacy right off the bat, you are going to get frustrated.

Start with changing 1-2 things at a time and go from there. Perhaps just change your browser/settings and your email. Adjust from there after a few months

First off, congrats on being clean! Such a huge accomplishment! I'm going to ask a few questions: -How did you start? -What was your rock bottom moment? -What was the convincing factor that made you get clean?

Thanks for making this Canadian instance :) I first created my account on Lemmy.ml, but also made one here since I am Canadian. Looking forward to seeing Lemmy grow as a whole, and see more Canadians join the Fediverise :)

For anyone interested, I've made a community for posting PC hardware/accessory sales (r/bapcsalescanada). Feel free to join and contribute. And if you know how to create an RSS feed, also let me know!

So I've been a little absent the past few months (haven't even logged in), and I'll be honest, I never even saw that we had gotten a bot. It's great that we had one, but this community is pretty small to begin with. Hopefully the community is able to get the bot back in the sub

Thank you! The bot will be the main poster of this sub, as manual entries will be rather difficult with timing of deals. There shouldn't be many human posts. Thank you for the swift-reversal! :)

You could always make a community here around it :)

My adblocker keeps tabs of how many trackers it blocked and Reddit was always the highest culprit of trackers. This doesn't surprise me, but I do not have/use facebook, snapchat, tiktok or instagram to compare it to.

Sad to see, but I never really used it. I don't even know how they can combat this. The amount of bots/AI accounts everywhere is unprecedented.

Amazing how low prices keep getting! Keep in mind this is a gen 3 drive, but still excellent and nothing to complain about

Ahh yes, I remember the whole controversy. I still think Proton as an ecosystem, and a product are still great for what they are, and for promoting privacy regardless of what Andy said using the official Proton account. (negative IQ play).

Regardless, GrapheneOS is still the staple in terms of limiting, or out right removing Google from your phone.

Honestly, I'm okay with that, in fact encourage it. I need to figure out how to do that myself.
