I got perma banned for telling someone who asked what they could do today, that they could organize unions or coops, as that is at least something you can do besides just read theory (they were already doing that).

Ah yes, another one of these political hot takes...

You can start to learn about the lies told about communist death tolls here: https://discomfiting.medium.com/...

Otherwise, if you aren't interested in learning, you don't need to troll here.

You aren't causing hexbears any problems, smooth brain libs are looking for a reason to cry to their admins. You got caught in the fire. If they don't defederated it will be some other fake contravorsey they'll come up with next week.

Though it is tough to know when someone is targeting people, or governments. I guess I always lean on longer posts myself. Just in case.

Sorry for the long comment, hope this clarification helps. If others disagree with my explanation, feel free to clarify or call out any wrong ideas. I'm a new Liberal convert so I'm still working through these details.

In essence, the "left" are socialists, the "right" are fascists (Glossing over some details here). Fascism is authoritarian capitalism, but Liberalism is capitalism that's not fascism. Liberalism is theoretically to the left of the political spectrum, but it's a compromise to the capitalists.

Our problem with Liberals is they seem completely incapable of having a real conversation about how the world works, and how to make change. As well, they demonize anyone that doesn't share their viewpoint.

For example: "Woke" is kind of a fake word now, it means whatever conservatives want it to mean, but it comes from a real place. Initially being woke meant that you see the injustices that are institutionalized in the world, and seek to better yourself after learning that information. This is a good thing and lead to more people understanding the contradictions of our wold. But Liberals kinda turned into "I'm better than you because I went 'woke'", "If you aren't woke, then leave my circle of friends", "Anything that isn't woke isn't worth talking about". This perpetuates the culture war that the conservatives are winning, because in the end, who wants to side with the assholes who push their own out at any sign of disobedience? The fascists are playing open arms to everyone the left excludes, perpetuating the growing movement of right authoritarianism.

I was a liberal for a long time, but always felt out of place because although the conservatives made up a lot of bullshit about liberals, they touched on some real things that also irritated me. Instead of moving to the right, I was educated and looked at the source of some of these things. That led me to find where the real problems of the world were, opened my eyes to those that were in charge, causing these problems in the first place. That lead me to socialism, communism, etc. and now I think I'm more on the 'left' than I have ever been.

This was one of the hardest parts of my transition to socialism, finding good information that didn't require a doctorates degree in history and/or philosophy. The S4A podcast has been running for years and is just now getting to the end of their "introduction to Marxism" series.... Like, you can't expect most people to do this...

After buying a number of books I am making my way through them and they are fascinating. But it did require me to self-investigate and open my mind a lot, and read a lot, to decide to study further.

The nuance is so strong and so many people have been taught bad information that it's hard to even begin a good conversation, so we resort to jokes because at least we can get a laugh out of it. I've dumped walls of text, and gotten some good results, some bad results.

I've been on the lookout for short/easy introductions that aren't in-your-face-about-it (Worked for me, but not for everyone). There's no reason to pander unnecessarily, but to provide reasoned arguments in short-form, to plant the seed of information that could bring someone out of their propaganda. I guess the biggest problem is just getting past the initial ichy feeling most people have when the word "communism" is thrown out.

I think for me it started with just anti-capitalism, and US military actions that were obviously against our "core values". But that's not enough for everyone.

I probably show a lot more emotion then is stereotypical. I was on swim team in high school. In my heterosexual relationship I was the one that really wanted a child first. If my wife made enough money I would absolutely be a stay at home dad if we needed a stay at home parent (We don't need any parent to stay at home thankfully right now, the way childcare is working out). I go to therapy and actually find it useful. I guess for the typical "male" things I do power lifting (Swoletariat FTW), but I really didn't get into to that until later in life anyway, and I don't follow any of the prototypical lifters.

I think you are being clear, I think Liberals have trouble understanding this dynamic. Even among those close to me when we talk socialism, they tent to favor the "why do socialists have to kill to take power" perspective. I say, well, if we ask for it, they don't give us power. If we take it peacefully via strike or protest, they create violence with a legal system that only protects property owners, when we begin to fight back, they escalate, when we actually fight, we're called 'fascists' because "we're the ones breaking the law" (The laws that the property owners created to protect themselves).

But Liberals stick to their guns... "Then change the laws!!". Okay, do it. Change the law, go on, I'm tired of talking. Do it. You can't, can you.... You can't vote in who you want, everyone on the ballot have licked boot to get the money to be ahead, they aren't on your side. The judges have licked boot, the lawyers live off the boot.

Oh sure, there are some people on our side. They run for president and get like 3% of the vote. They are lawyers that refuse to work for big-corp, and get paid 50k/yr to do good work, etc. But the judges that work toward "rehabilitation" instead of "retaliation" are considered "soft on crime". Those lawyers are "not successful". Those progressive candidates "steal votes from the dems". Here we are, doing the work, and the Libs don't care.

So yeah, if we want to make change, it's up to the bourgeoisie to determine how it goes. But they will always pick violence.

I love a good Parenti video, thank you for linking that!

And thank you for the clarifications comrade, I agree with you completely.

Unfortunately I was a bit short on time and did not clarify liberalism to the extent that I could. You also bring up good points of view that I didn't quite have solidified in my thinking yet. As evidenced by your long explanation, it is difficult for a liberal to understand why liberalism is just a path towards fascism. I think you eloquently pointed out that any capitalist system, even with a population who's opinion has a lot of overlap with communist ideas, will still slip into fascism over time.

TLDR what we think of as liberalism is actually just when the fascism is contained in the countries we inflict it on.

Damn that's a good TLDR

Yeah... sure... it's just a joke. Please leave now, nothing to see here...

Are the reactionaries gone?

Jfc can these people please at least go join a union or something? I don't care if they "get it", we don't need every single person to "get it", but we need people to become conscious of the reasons their lives actually suck, instead of just being propagandized.

Reactionaries, please go touch grass and think about WHY your job sucks... Also no, it's not the Jews or Trans people...

"You're in a propaganda bubble! I need to restrict your access to media outside my bubble so that you aren't in such a bubble!"

Riiiiiight...

Sounds like you live at home still, I wouldn't rock the boat too much until you have autonomy. You don't want to have a terrible relationship with someone who still controls a good portion of your decisions. Other than than that, we've all felt this. In my 30's and my conversations with family are kinda going the same way. It's ironic when someone says you're falling for propaganda, while they still believe the lies spread by corporate media that have been clearly debunked.

Good luck comrade!

Why is it that you asshats love trolling on our instance, but when anyone says anything remotely socialist anywhere else, we are instantly "tankies" and get banned.

The fuck is wrong with you, mentally?

genuinely believe in things like “value add”, “market incentives”, “CEOs aren’t paid enough because their ‘value add’ is so high”, “governance models”, “technocracy”

UGGGGHHHHH, Don't get me started about the corporate culture devs are. I can't fucking believe I entered a field of so well-educated people with such strong blinders for non-capitalist ideas. The exception is open source coders, but it's getting more niche every day :(

but the worst is their “debate” bro culture

More UGH

their average immense wealth

Unfortunately I think this is the root cause of their capitalist mindsets. The system works out great for them. Why doesn't everyone just drop all hobbies/families/life and become 10x programmers????
