Ironically people who "btw I use Arch" have been FREAKING OUT because their precious arch user repository got massively infected with infostealer malware, lol
This was just this week
@lemmy.world
After decades and decades and DECADES of "de-politicizing" their citizens and hiding the truth, I hope (probably too hopeful) that their citizens might start waking up when they can't look a single cardinal direction without seeing fires burn in their home towns.
The only reasonable reaction to all this horrendous slop fail they continue to do is run a batch of updates after a decent system backup, test, then block all updates for the max it lets a user. (5-6 weeks, right?) Even that's a stretch, but it's better than hoping it doesn't blow up in a new and spectacular way next Tuesday/Wednesday.
Lol, I'd rather have AUR malware than Snap packages. You do you, friend. All the arch based distros are fine, only the AUR is affected, so unless someone goes out of their way to use the AUR they're golden.
Man this sucks. Not angry with Valve, it seems they far, FAR underestimated demand, but with the entire industry being on fire I also sort of understand. I'm a computer guy and when people want to buy hardware from me I spiral in to a dark place because it's practically impossible and my prices are so huge they'd be insane to even speak to me again.
I wish all Linux "poofed" out of existence for exactly 24 hours (and then poofed back effortlessly) so that dummydumbdumbderps could learn just how much their Apple and Windows computers rely on them to ever communicate with any other device on the planet.
thanks for using Leebra!
