It’s funny how the solutions for the failures of capitalism often end up looking just like socialism

As other people have pointed out, big companies target an area and set about establishing a monopoly using $$$

Then they realise “huh. There’s not so much profit here in Assfuck, Montana after all.” And make some lame excuse (theft) to pull out.

Citizens get fucked because : capitalism.

I feel like some people in this thread are overlooking the tongue in cheek nature of this humour post and taking it weirdly personally

But are they also hip and rad?

The economy is no longer a measure of prosperity for regular people (if it ever was) It just indicates the rate at which mega-rich people are able to become richer.

Did Jesus also commit adultery with a porn star, use campaign funds to hush it up and then lie about it?

Or does the analogy not carry that far?

My god, this is a masterful piece of writing.

“Make the situation more of a commitment”

Amazing.

Believe it or not, Mark Kennedy is my brother in law.

He’s a bit full of himself, and it’s weird when this comes up in the news cycle.

He wrote a book about his experiences, but it wasn’t taken up with the publisher because he essentially didn’t express regret.

Exactly. Blows my fucking mind.

Tried to explain to my family how to opt out of Meta AI in WhatsApp and why it was a good idea.

Wasted my time.

I remember going into cafés and things when I was a young man about 14 years old… You wouldn’t be able to see across a small room for the sheer fog bank of cigarette smoke.

We didn’t think anything of it

He has obviously found a single interest that really engages him… That is a very ‘seductive’ thing for autistic people.

One suggestion is that if he is dropping jokes that are not landing, ask him what he wants to achieve when he’s making these jokes… It might well be that he simply hasn’t grasped the fact that not everyone speaks the same language that he has discovered.

The world is such a puzzling place to autistic people at the best of times, and it really is possible that he just assumes that everybody else understands these memes in the same way that everybody else seems to understand so many things that are a mystery to him.

The invisible hand of the free market hard at work here. Regulations are for pussies, the most profitable solution is always the best one. Yay, capitalism.

Every subversive secret organisation that I belong to issues membership cards, and I keep all of them in my wallet, obviously.

First the blatantly incorrect assertion. Then the clueless fumbling to justify it. Now the generic ad hominem attacks.

This is better than a movie… what’s next?

I actually stopped my subscription to Wired recently because the damn site never recognises me and login does not seem to support autofill or biometrics. Really pissed me off.

Anyway, the gist of this article is the companies are spending money on building AI and sacking people to save that money
