"IT people" here, operations guy who keeps the lights on for that software.

It's been my experience developers have no idea how the hardware works, but STRONGLY believe they know more then me.

Devops is also usually more dev than ops, and it shows in the availability numbers.

It IS a gendered issue.

Men ARE taught from an early age don't hit girls. Boys and men who do are social outcasts for it. In a public setting men and women will step in to defend the woman.

None of the above is true about a woman attacking a man. In a public setting you'll see indifference or even coming to the woman's aid in attacking the man. In media slapping men is just seen as acceptable. There is zero social stigma against women being violent towards men. The assumption is always that he must deserve it.

Six years, and it's still a sign of a bad techie.

First the printer is the last thing you should have or trust.

Second, smart homes are not inherently insecure but idiots can EASILY make them that way. Many of the most talented, security minded, techs I've ever worked with are home assistant users.

Maintain local control only, avoid using cloud enabled devices and it's fine.

Stop pushing ignorant positions like this post.

There will be political violence no matter what the election outcome. If he wins it will be post inauguration. If he loses it will be to try and take power.

There has already been too much political violence this election cycle with two assassination attempts.

Until Trump and his MAGA party are put in their place, either by rule of law or the impact of that violence, we will have violence.

You'd still have to work for your living in said scenario.

Nobody is gonna bring you chicken tendies three times a day in your hidden cottage.

Uncontacted hunter gathered tribes work, it's right there in the description. Not 40 hours a week, sure, but you can live a much simpler lifestyle in the wilderness on a similar work ethic.

Labor is an intrinsic requirement of human life.

Why would we move on from his admitting to what we all know, his goal is the end of our Republic.

What the hell are you talking about, we should NOT move on, that's been the problem all along.

Competition is great, a company that can't produce a quality product and ships a CAR with beta level software that can't update OTA is NOT competition.

The auto industry is highly unfavorable to startups, the competition you want will come from the old ICE OEMs.

If you're keeping score isreal has for sure put more points on the board.

But Hamas does suck as much as the Israeli government, yes.

The biggest victims here? The Palestinians.

Because you can't get past your minor differences and unite.

A truly united EU would dominate the world, but y'all want to maintain individual sovereignty over foreign affairs.

What a load of crap.

One party admits global warming exists and is attempting to deal with it, highly ineffectually. The other advocates for accelerating our extinction.

One party advocates for personal freedoms, ineffectually. The other thinks The Handmaid's Tail is a good idea

One party is trying to help elevate the pain of student loan debt. The other likes having a middle class in chains.

You are cherry picking your pet issues as if it's a holistic view and it's horse shit.

One party, as ineffective as they are, is hands down better then the other.

Everything you complained about Biden doing will be massively accelerated by Trump.

Ok, but, why is microwaved water any different the water warmed in a kettle?

This seems like a pointless thing to get worked up over.

I mean, this sorta bolsters the idea that livable space is rare and valuable.

Of all of the universe Earth is the only place capable of supporting human life. Furthermore no human has ever managed to leave the earth/moon system, because of the extreme effort and risk required to do so.

So... How does this make rent seem silly?

Yes, except the Israeli government are the ones creating ghettos, actively stealing land and ethnic cleansing.

Neither Hamas or the state of Israel are good, or right, but one of these two has put way more points on the board over the last half century, and it ain't Hamas.

Hamas is the result of Isreal's brutality, not the cause.

Even 20 years ago Linux was easier to install then Windows.

Last time I recall Linux being tricky was like late 90s.

They hide the useful bits so people don't hurt themselves.

The staffing, the network and storage changes.

The suggestion to just use KVM and ansible is rather tone def.

Sounds like someone with limited experience in the industry, honestly.

Unfortunately it's not a bait and switch, there real issues in how we're failing boys and men are surely contributing to this concerning trend.

Especially when we blame the victims.

These "True Men" ass holes are simply swooping in to prey on the young men who've been left behind, like any cult leader would.

IDK let's see.

Other countries finally starting to pull out of the rubble of ww2.

The massive influx of the baby boomers into the workforce devaluing labor. Couple this with boomer women demanding jobs instead of being house wives, further adding to supply of available labor.

Come 1980 we add in trickle down economics which encourages the hoarding of wealth.

Then there's computerization, automation and globalization that have been rapidly bringing up per capital productivity. Weirdly this devalues labor, because you need fewer people.

That's just off the top of my head.

Unions are important and can be a force for good, but the data doesn't fully support the claim.

Simple solutions to complex problems are usually being sold as a way to manipulate people.... Don't buy in to simple solutions.
