Yes and no. The GDPR applies to personal data, which is to say data pertaining to a personally identifiable subject. Data can be anonymised in order to satisfy the right for deletion, making it no longer personal data, so they can delete your name but keep the content if they want. This is what Reddit does when you delete your account - the content remains but they replace your name with [deleted]. Things get a little more dicey if you reveal enough information in the content of your posts to still render you identifiable, in which case they would be obliged to remove that information so that you could no longer be identified.

It's a GPO 706, which is a classic British bakelite phone from the '60s. I have it hooked up to a SIP trunk through an OBi 100. Right now it can receive calls but not make them because I haven't gotten around to sorting out a pulse-to-tone dialing converter yet.

PDFs are perfect for the one thing they were designed for, which is publishing high quality proofs for printing. They aren't supposed to be editable. People just use them where they shouldn't.

This is great for a handful of devices but I deploy and administrate hundreds of devices at my school. As much as I would love to, there's no way I could sell this without a really robust way of managing device policies & software deployment. I understand RHEL has something like that but that it isn't quite up to the same standard as the Microsoft admin ecosystem just yet.

It applies to comments and posts to the extent that they are attributed to you, about you and/or their content is specific enough to render you identifiable. In practical terms, this means that a data controller can in most cases keep the content of your post by anonymising it, which is why when you delete your account it shows "[deleted]" in place of your user name above your old posts. If the content of the deleted posts, even in aggregate, allows me to find out who you are, then you would have grounds to insist that the content be deleted (or sufficiently anonymised).

I recently attended a presentation given by Microsoft to my multi-academy trust which outlined a bunch of flavours of Copilot in the works that they are intending to sell to schools, primarily as a substitute for one-to-one tutoring. As if these bullshitting text prediction models weren't bad enough when poluting web content with nonsense assertions, we are now going to automate misinformation in education? This is, to me, a completely terrifying prospect.

Former DPO here. The "right to be forgotten" doesn't actually mean they have to delete the content of your posts unless it renders you identifiable. Anonymisation is more or less equivalent to deletion under the GDPR, which is why they can get away with replacing usernames with [deleted] when you delete your account.

This is nothing new. I was taught about analysing bias etc in news sources during "citizenship" classes 20+ years ago. Before that, it was called PSHE if I remember correctly.

Network effects mean you can't switch without losing all those communities.

When I left Reddit, I left behind the only active mental health community on the internet supporting those with my specific condition. I had the choice to leave, sure, but what did it cost me?

You can buy a C64 DIN video cable that will put out s-video, composite video, and audio. From there, you will need a converter box to go from s-video or composite to HDMI. There are cheap and crappy converters and there are better expensive ones but the C64's video output is never going to look amazing anyway.

Alternatively, you can skip the converter box and buy an old TV with s-video input instead.

I think you've probably found the cheapest you'll get in Europe. When I want genuine obsolete parts from China, I usually go to Utsource rather than eBay or Ali.

Most likely your remarked chips are real 68000s, especially because the package is not used for much else. They often re-mark chips to make them look like they have a higher rating or simply to give the appearance of being new even though they are perfectly good ICs. It sucks, but they can often be used reliably.

You will absolutely need gnd to be hooked up to get anything out of it. If the baud rate was incorrect, you would probably receive garbage characters rather than nothing at all.

I do think the sleaze is an integral side to Frank's character that should stay or he would be a lot less interesting. I don't think anything in the article actually demonstrates that they are changing his character despite the headline. If I recall correctly, Off the Record also included the mechanic even though Frank was not the protagonist so perhaps it was never meant to reflect on his character and was just there to reward the player for being kind of gross.

Here in the UK, builders & farmers use flatbeds and movers use box trucks - exclusively working vehicles. Pickups are not practical for most jobs.
