I really can't wait to see what's the fallout of Reddit going dark. Does the community really wield the power? Or does Reddit have another ace up its sleeve?
I, for one, actually like the wefwef icon. It has a personality of its own.
Perhaps the ability to customise and select an icon would be the real solution here.
Fuck /u/spez. I loved Reddit, but now I'm hoping that their upcoming IPO burns to the ground.
Reddit isn't a platform, it's community.
It's certainly fantastic and unprecedented, that different user bases, from very different types of platforms are able to come together and interact from their platforms of choice.
We may be witnessing a disruption right now. I do see more benefits than drawbacks with federated content, but that could just be my very biased point of view.
Ich im echten Leben > Me in real life
That's exactly what my office does. We even have to clock in and out with an app that only activates when connected to the office wifi. Getting the hell out of here.
Feddit.de because Deutschsprachig and I loved Reddit, but would love to see a successfully federated version of it.

Parkour!
This is my pile of shit. There are many like it, but this one is mine.
Sweet Jesus. I never imagined so many subreddits would go dark over this.
I think Mastodon's community isn't really up to par with what most Twitter ditchers were expecting.
The Reddit-Lemmy exodus however, is far more exaggerated because of the tremendous number of users on third-party apps that were being killed.
This probably led to a lot more content generation and activity which makes it a lot more welcoming than Mastodon was.
Would one say Elon Musk is the cause of this?
Glad to see more women picking up gaming! Here's hoping that'll stop my wife from nagging that my gaming habits are purely a "men/boys" problem.
Man, I miss the days of offline multiplayer. Split-screens, one person hogging WASD and the other the arrow keys.
Shit, I'm old.
Man, this is turning out to be one of the worst pre-IPO disasters in history, if this move was indeed for Reddit to increase its valuation for an upcoming IPO. Really shot themselves in the foot with a shotgun.
My biggest gripe is that there isn't a working Lemmy iOS app in my region, yet.
I have spotty metered mobile internet connection, and while the web app is lightweight enough, it requires the downloading of page structures each time and it adds up after a while.
I do hope we'll eventually get high-quality apps to interface with the fediverse, much like Apollo with Reddit.
Genuinely curious why people pre-order. Is it because of the initial excitement and FOMO kicking in? Or is it a true belief that pre-ordering will support the creators to produce a better final product?
Edit: Punctuation and spelling.
No, definitely not bothered. But it wasn't always this way. I was very self-conscious from my teenage years up to the first few years when I started working full-time.
It was only when I started working that I had to learn to deal with it. I was always taking feedback and criticisms very personally and as an introvert, felt extremely down plenty of times.
I taught myself to see things from the perspective and scale of the world - 7 billion people out there, what does it matter that a few people think of what I do, or what I am?
Of course, cutting out social media definitely helped a lot too. I still have my accounts, but have stopped using them actively, at least the ones that expose my personal life.
With social media out of the picture, I was comparing myself to my peers a lot less and spent much more time on productive things instead - learning a new language, skills, picking up new hobbies and all.
It's not easy, but it is liberating once you figure it out.
