Pfp is my #chinchilla, Muffin, begging to be let out for floor time so she can eat my baseboards. Banner picture is of my two #cavy boars, Oreo (right) and Coffecake (left), who are claiming that I have never fed them once and will soon starve to death, despite the full food bowl behind them.

The "nobody ever uses the bathroom in fiction unless something is sus" trope popped up in a Trail of Cthulhu campaign I ran back in high school. One of the PCs realized in a moment of Mythos-inflicted hysteria that he hadn't used the bathroom in 9 months, which led to him slowly realizing that he was in an episodic work of fiction and would stop existing when the story was over

I always love it when religious characters put the social good above their own personal power. It makes me feel hopeful.

@Afterpants It led to some very chaotic behavior from that character since

  1. Player was mature rper who valued the experience of the other people at the table and very much wanted to see how everything tied together

  2. Character was suddenly very aware that if the story ended, he would stop existing.

  3. Player decided that the character's moment of gnosis also allowed him to possess his irl body while in-character

Stuff like this is why sending stones are the most powerful magic item in DnD.

She actually does not like being pet. She tolerates it as part of interacting with her humans, and she will climb all over me if able, but touching the royal person is usually forbidden. What she wants here is to be let out for floor time!

@alvvayson Existing research was about "how do we stop the bugs from circling our lights?". This is about *why* the bugs circle the lights. It artificially triggers the dorsal reflex, which disorients the bugs.

I actually never thought of the Dream spell as a communication tool. I wonder if I can implement a version of the Sending stone for the Dream spell in my DnD campaign. Inflicting terrible nightmares on people for fun seems like something my artificer would do

Video ends where it does because, while the deer on the right did look cautiously curious to me, I was worried that I might be reading her body language wrong. I don’t want to be the first person to die by being mauled by a deer.

@AngryCommieKender
Muffin is a chinchilla, and she's a bit over a year old now. They are native to South America and used to be made into fur coats. It takes about 300 Muffins to make a fur coat, so the wild population was really taking a nosedive before breeders figured out how to breed them.

The biggest roadblock in breeding chinchillas, btw, is that they are such divas that they would rather starve than eat suboptimal pellets and hay, and prospective mothers' standards are even higher.

@jewbacca117

Long story. When I was a kid, I found a cool semi-epistolary 8-book series at my school library about a modern-day kid named Pendragon hopping through a portal to save alternate timelines. It was so cool to me that the series jumped around in time so we had to figure out when we were in Pendragon's timeline. Turns out my school shelved them in alphabetical order, and they also lacked the first and last books. I had a blast & I've been trying to recreate that experience ever since.

I saw a video of a guy doing breaststroke in full plate mail once. Sure, it was rough for him, and he was already pretty fucking good at swimming, but he didn't sink like metal Mario or anything like that.
