Please stop with justifying things that are terrible for people and the world. If these items are needed for people with disabilities, you don’t take a natural container, remove it and cover it in plastic. The solution would be to create something that is created once and does the job required indefinitely.

What about the folks that like playing multiplayer games solo? I enjoy the busyness/fullness of people running around the world and having small interactions, while getting into groups only when really necessary for content or items.

Sooo, can we not create and/or finance our own? Please be gentle…but…is there not enough of us paying for proton and other privacy apps to fund a floss or non-profit version? I mean there are tech nerds all over this place, along with law nerds and political nerds…etc..(meant with love btw) that would have an instant user base.

Sorry to poke my head in here, but if you could point me in the direction on how to communicate better with my 16yo son who is “high functioning?” On the spectrum? He’s into “gangsta lifestyle?” But anyways there’s too much to unpack. I support him and love him, and I think he knows it but I’d like to be able to help him more. All the ? Try to remember, words are just that, words. Intent is what makes them good or bad.

As a father, I didn’t even know what to do or expect, we’re all messy, gross, and dumb at that age. The path I chose, was if they knew enough to ask a question, it was time for a discussion. Just pay attention, offer a safe environment for questions and be honest. Most of what they need to learn the world with teach them. Be there to fact check and maybe even learn together. Last tip… WE made biology gross and taboo, WE can make it less so for our kids.

Hell yes they need to lie! They probably say they voted for who ever the loudest person in the group did so they don’t get threatened. Us older generations shouldn’t be bullying the younger ones, we had our chance and here we are.

I'm sure someone will post the specifics of how to initiate a search and "link" your instances, I use a browser (mobile and PC) on the Lemmy site and click communities to see what's "connected/federated". In the interim as someone else also adjusting to the change, remember to give it time. Its a newer medium and most of us are just coming here flooding it. It will grow and improve and "connect".

I think we all have to get used to the withdrawal from being force fed SO much information and garbage that the fear of missing out and small quantities of content are creating cyclical anxiety. Am I doing this right? What am I missing? where is my content? Why is there not more content? Am I doing this right?...etc.

I remember the days of reading through those catalogs with anticipation and hope. Personally I think back fondly on the ultimate catalog, consumers distributing. Fill out the catalog card after weeks of pouring over toys and give it to the parents, instant Christmas list

With streaming the way it is, I would stop the chopping up of stories and start telling them in a new way. Shows are longer now and the quality difference is minimal, so just film and tell the story. Sitcoms and the like I get doing episodes but I think it’s time to review how stories are dispensed visually

Buy 100 acres, invite 100 people to live on it with me, build crops and resources to feed, clothe and shelter each other in a sustainable way (without separating from society and ignoring capitalism exists). We have the technology and knowledge to do this (go back to villages) and not live like the stone ages. We can have all the things if we work together instead of running away and escaping solo

In my move over to lemmy I got nostalgic for how some older things were done, what you might be talking about are FAQs for specific topics like we had in the Usenet days. If this interests you, I have a new community started for collecting and creating those kinds of things. Not much there yet but I’ll grow it over time and would love for others to contribute.
