Hmm. Self-organizing projects whose workers work on them entirely based on their need to be done, and the results freely distributed to anyone who wants a copy?

Literal fascism, obviously.

Yep. Something needs to change if we want Lemmy to be something besides a place for Soviet simps to hide from criticism. Authoritarianism cannot be tolerated.

Yeah, people going "hurr durr the protests don't matter" aren't seeing the bigger picture. True, the protests were ineffective at best in changing Spez's mind, but the thing they're protesting will end up destroying Reddit because crippling mod tools is going to cause spam to explode on the platform.

Chrome had a bigger ad budget and had a good amount of hype when it was released, since Google was still well-regarded when it was released.

Linux let's you f'up your OS but it also let's you fix it, it's just a skill issue.

Yeah, there's something about Linux that makes me feel like if something breaks in it, the only reason I can't fix it personally is because I lack the skills to fix the problem. Just feels nice, really.

If media companies want us to consume their products legally, they need to make a version of Prowlarr, but for legal streaming sites.

I've been spending my time both here and on Reddit recently, and I've honestly been enjoying it more here. Though I mostly lurk.

If these fuckers get their way, I will, at some point, start seeing murder cases where the perpetrator is a woman and default to thinking that the charges are bullshit because of this.

Like, I know Biden is not that great, but at least the slow collapse of the country isn't being put in your face every day like it was with Trump.

I can't think of a single other president in my 32 years on this planet that I can say that the end of their time in office acutely improved my mental health.

I hope he realizes that having moderation isn't a choice social media websites get to make anymore. That's Apple and Google's choice now. Why? Because in order to have literally any userbase at all nowadays, you have to have an app. Websites barely get used in comparison to phone apps. And if you don't bother moderating your website and let people send things like racial slurs and child porn unabated, you get kicked off the app stores by Apple and Google. Not to mention that payment companies don't like those things either.

People are discussing it in the talk pages and figuring out how they want the new information to be included in the article instead of leaving an article about a former POTUS to the whims of random vandals.

What is there to think about? I complain about people who support Soviet-style dictatorships having full control over online platforms moderating exactly as one would expect, and I get told by Random Guy On The Internet #368,452 that I'm apparently a hypocrite because wanting action to be taken to stop authoritarians from controlling social networks makes me the real authoritarian or something. All this to "suit my agenda", which in this case is wanting to be able to say that authoritarians are bad.

God forbid I find arguments like that incoherent and unworthy of taking seriously.

"Free speech" has become an anti-feature now due to the prevalence of people who use it to justify enabling bigotry. It's sad.
