So depending on your time zone, if yesterday you accessed the puzzle directly via the webpage, it might have been this puzzle.

I suspect it is at least partially time based. If I mean to make an x and instead it places a light, immediately undoing that never impacts accuracy.

I also think it matters whether you've made any other moves, e.g. placed a light, then an x, then undo the light, or just placed the light and then undid it. I haven't tested this, just my impression.
