- fix the cowlick in the front
- show the sides, you coward, it might be a competent fade cut you're just not showing it from the right angle
@lemm.ee
There's been a blatant push by media to forward the idea that Luigi did it. All they have to do is ... not report evidence to the contrary. What there IS, however, is a lack of evidence that he did it, if you take into consideration the fact that NYPD - who have a history of faking evidence - probably used a gun and fake manifesto to pin the crime on him. Innocent until proven guilty has gone out the window; even news outlets aren't bothering to hedge their language with 'alleged' any more.
Oh hey, yet another article perpetuating the narrative that Luigi is guilty. Must be a day of the week that ends in 'y'.
Don't cut yourself on that edge.
It's not that we think we have zero responsibility or whatever - it's that, as you described, we put in a lot of effort to find coping mechanisms and management strategies, and then people like this cut-rate psych point to the results of that effort and say 'See, it's gone!' It's not gone, you dingbat, we have to manage it and it takes a lot of work, and maybe it would be nice - just once - to get some recognition for all that work we're doing rather than pretending the problem doesn't exist any more.
Violence is only justifiable when it's used against people I don't like, not people YOU don't like.
They want to punish the people they don't like, not reduce crime.
......thanks, I think....
The order was to shut down DEI policies, not to stop discrimination. And DEI policies explicitly exist to try to stop discrimination - meaning that what Trump really wants to do is appeal to white men who feel like they're being left behind when a Pakistani woman gets hired in a position they feel like they 'deserve'.
The thing missing from most of these bullet points is that extracting energy from rotation reduces the speed of the rotating object.
Even black holes are affected by the gravity of objects near them, same as anything else - which means that the black hole will slow down if you slingshot an object around it.
That's why it's called energy extraction rather than energy creation.
So sure, you could make a black hole bomb... but making the black hole in the first place would take as much - if not more - energy than you'll get out of it. And usually you're going to do enough damage just throwing a black hole through your target.
75 years later, lesbians still dress this way...
You picked a side
Yeah. They picked truth and honesty over sensationalism.
Spreading lies about corporations doesn't help. They're bad enough anyways; we don't need to make up stories about them to paint them in a bad light, they're perfectly capable of painting themselves.
Oh, I'm sure there are bots on Lemmy too. The general userbase, however - of people who are sick of Reddit's BS - are also going to have very little tolerance for bot BS, so the instances are incentivized to try to keep bot activity down lest they be de-federated.
Sigh. Yet another article assuming Mangione's guilt. Ben Burgis didn't even bother to say 'allegedly' anywhere.
I dropped Reddit when it was announced that you could be banned for upvoting something.
It would probably be a pyrrhic victory though.
The problem is that incandescent lights are 1) warmer in tone, which is less harsh for the same candle ratings, 2) have a more gradual boundary than LED projector-style headlights, which means you aren't suddenly blinded when the car coming towards you goes over a minor bump, and 3) aren't a point light-source with the reflector design they have unlike LEDs, and thus are less painful. NONE of these issues are dealt with in a vast majority of new cars (adaptive-angle headlamps would do a lot to help, but would only fix one of the three issues - and only when the camera can actually figure out when they should be lowering the angle, which is far from foolproof).
If I could easily replace the LED headlamp in my new car with an incandescent lamp, I would - because I could still see decently with my old car's headlights, and I wasn't at risk of blinding everyone in the oncoming lane next to me.
Oh, it's completely the fault of the voters. It's also the fault of the DNC's messaging. The crappy economy (job markets and inflation/unchecked price gouging) meant that the uninformed were just voting for "Not the Party that's Currently In Power" because the cost of groceries and rent was outstripping their paychecks, and the messaging coming from the DNC was completely tangential to that.
Regular everyday Joes don't follow politics. Just because we do doesn't make us representative of the general population. That sort of thinking is what made Trump's victory a surprise - both times.
Although I understand the sentiment, I like how my brain works and doing anything to impact it is something I find very, very not appealing. On top of that, there's a good chance I am especially susceptible to addiction. I'd rather not tickle that particular tiger's tail, thank you very much.
Nothing against the people who enjoy partaking; it's just not for me.
I like how they respond to the first part of the sentence (they've read texts) and act like that is the entirety of the critique, despite including the second part in their quote.
An "instance" is a server that talks to all the other Lemmy servers, where your account info and login are stored. There's a lot of benefits to decentralization - even if one instance goes down, like lemm.ee, it doesn't really impact the whole of Lemmy too severely. The cost of running an instance isn't super high, which means that if an instance is being annoying about advertising or something, you can ditch it with little cost to yourself and even run your own instance if you want. A single cabal of admins can't ruin it like Reddit (cough cough Spez) and it can be easier to curate your own experience by choosing what instances you want to ignore completely.
Any given instance is not necessarily a safe harbor, but as long as Lemmy is around, there will probably be multiple instances to choose from. The only thing you really lose is your post history - and you can link to your old account info in your new account for continuity's sake.
