The whole point is we have authentic food from most countries available to us in Europe. Immigrants and cultures mixing is not unique to the US. What we don't have is all the big chain fast food that we see on tv, but have never tasted. We get excited because we get to try "authentic american" fast food.

I know someone like that who cannot keep a job because of autism and health issues. Luckily she lives in a functioning country and gets state support including money and guidance. She is the regional pet/pony/alpaca carer and her house is always filled with animals from people on holiday or sick animals from people with full time jobs. She also notifies all the local farmers if one of their animals has an issue.

The quality if the food you eat is such a big determiner for quality of life though.. I would rather spent a few hours every weekend mealprepping and living an extra ten years of healthy active life. Plus, if you can save 600 dollars on food you might be able to just work less.

I would love having a squirrel as pet. Unfortunately most squirrel types don't do well in captivity because they are too anxious.
