And let me guess...there are a bunch of Redditors on Reddit posting on Reddit about how awful Reddit is. And they are giving each other gold stars and slaps on the back for how great their Reddit posts are on Reddit on how bad Reddit is.

I don’t feel safe. I might not respond but please come get me

My God, I would have an absolute panic attack if my kid ever texted me this. I would be shaking with fear and rage the entire drive over.

Wonderful. This is what the American electorate is talking about. Not climate change, healthcare, guns, income inequality, or a billionaire tax.

No, the biggest drama is whether a candidate is wearing lifts.

We deserve the politicians we get.

I wish these assholes would just come out and tell the truth: they need you in the office to justify their multi-decade office leases that they can't get out of.

I cannot imagine a customer base that's so ecstatic with Netflix's service that they're willing to give the company even more money by buying overpriced ultra-processed meals and branded coffee cups. Why people continue to sell their souls and open their wallets to these companies is beyond me.

Meh, it gets a bit unsettling and empty when you get into your 40s. At least it did for me. We had a kid (much) later in life and I'm glad we did. We had our DINK fun in our 30s, and I still long for those days sometimes. But having a kid is like filling a hole you didn't realize you had. And there are moments of joy and bonding that are simply indescribable.

Anyway, to each their own.

I can't decide if it's a good thing or a bad thing, honestly. I joined the initial wave of people leaving Reddit when RiF died. I was excited to see my niche communities like Skyrim Mods and ObsidianMD pop up here, but over time they stagnated as people slipped back to Reddit.

At the same time, I came to realize that I spent a lot of time on stupid subs browsing stupid content that just sucked away my time. And for even my niche subs that I missed, I realized that 75% of that new content is the same reposts, the same arguments, the same debates. I do cheat every once in awhile and go back to Reddit, but now it's to see the top posts of the month to see what I've missed. Turns out, I haven't missed much.

It has taken a while to get Lemmy where I want it. I've filtered a ton of communities and users that do nothing but talk about Russia and socialism and whatever the fuck tankies are, and there sure were a lot of cartoons of animals with enormous NSFW bits I had to filter, but it's starting to come together now for me.

Yes, the zipper method is much more efficient than a single line of cars 2 miles long before a lane closure.

LPT: don't take it personally when someone needs to merge.

It was a dense and difficult article to read, so it's likely you missed the subject and the overall point that was being made. The article was not about how this woman should write a eulogy, or whether it's preferred to write a eulogy using one of a variety of media, including a laptop, pen and paper, or dictation. Nor was it about why one may need to order a laptop even though one may already have access to the Internet and word processing software through other electronic devices. Rather, the article was about the laptop she ordered through Amazon being stolen by the person making the delivery. In other words, no matter what the reason was for buying the laptop, the laptop would have still been stolen. Does that help? I sure hope it does.

This will turn into a car versus bikers thread unfortunately. But from my experience, commuting by bicycle has been one of the best decisions I've made.

I started out in the suburbs, commuting by car 50 minutes each way. Over the years I kept moving closer and closer to the city and my job...which is pretty much the opposite of what Americans tend to do. Eventually I ditched the car commute for public transit, and finally ditched public transit for a bike.

Being in a car sucks. You are isolated, stuck in a behemoth monster of a machine in a sea of other machines. Your isolation makes you feel anonymous, and anonymity gives you the freedom to seethe and yell at other drivers who dare to go slower than you, faster than you, or God forbid, try to get in front of you.

On a bike you are out in the open, feeling the weather and the wind and the change of seasons and daylight. You interact with people way more, and on much friendlier terms...after all, you're no longer protected behind your locked metal box. You actually have to act like a normal, decent human.

Now yes, there are the Lycra ads-on-butts boys that pretend they're in a race, but jerks abound everywhere in every activity.

I would seek a therapist to help you through family issues. No Internet strangers are going to be able help, and sending a passive aggressive text to everyone and then running away is not going to help either.

That is exceptionally thin skin. And it's amazing to me that the CEO of HBO has so much time on his hands.

...nah, I take that back. Pretty much confirms what I assume CEOs are doing all day.

Nestlé, PepsiCo, Mars, and Kraft Heinz

These are some serious, evil, greedy motherfuckers that will never allow UPFs to be regulated in the U.S. It's vitally important that people take personal responsibility to learn about the dangers of UPFs and eliminate them from their diet.

If you already have a passport and opt out of facial recognition, you're only deluding yourself into a false sense of privacy. In fact, if you enter the screening area at all in an airport, you are kidding yourself if you think you can maintain some semblance of privacy. The government knows what you look like. Calm down and move on with your life.
