I don't know about "ever", but someone recently told me bald eagles are the fastest flyers on Earth; even faster than any military jet.

I remember a game (forget which one) that would ask which word was on a certain page in the game manual for its copy protection.

macOS Tahoe’s visual interface:

Dishwasher. I've done hand washing and dishwashing depending on where I'm living each year. Dishwasher does a better job than me, uses less water than me, and saves me time. I run it at night and put away the dishes in the morning.

Software as a whole is getting overly complicated and details are commonly overlooked or missed. It sucks I agree.

While CSAM might be the word people are using now, how did you determine "porn" means the creation of it involved consent and not that the contents contain sexually explicit material?

Could be security mitigations. They do mention mitigations on the last page to say there are new mitigations applied, but did not test the performance characteristics of them.

For my older CPU the impact mitigations have on performance are tremendous; ~20% if I recall from heartbleed and spectre. I have them disabled because it was making my computer a pain to use.

I sometimes can't believe how helpful rustc is.

Didn't read the story, but how are loot boxes different than trading card game booster packs? I don't like the consumerist nature of both, but just curious.
