Separatism isn't inherently treason. Conspiring with foreign actors to conduct acts that undermine the sovereignty of Canada while promote the interests of that foreign actor(s) is.

Especially when the said foreign actor has expressed intentions to ANNEX US.

Let's assume that heating water to 500C does what you want it to do. Even then, the sheer amount of energy required to do this would be massive. It would just be incredibly uneconomical to do this, when other cheaper solutions (like not polluting in the first place) exist.

I'd honestly love to see a world war between circumcised and uncircumcised folks. I wonder who would win.

I think disabling downvotes totally for the user's content by default would be a bad idea, because it is important for a user to know if what they are saying is unpopular.

Here's an approach I have taken for my app (for all posts and comments).

  • If downvotes are <= 5, downvotes show as 0.
  • If downvotes <= 5%, downvotes show as 0.

Remember, the reasoning for this is a mere hypothesis and not results obtained from an experiment.

The 5 percent rule aims to prevent fringe opinions from downvoting. This solves issues like, "why do I have 3 downvotes on a picture of my cute puppy?".

The 5 downvotes rule prevents downvoting bias. I have observed this happening on Reddit a lot. If a comment has 3 upvotes and 2 downvotes, people tend to downvote more (just because of the downvote counts and not the content itself). 2 downvotes in a 5 total votes sample size is too small to make any decision about the quality of content.

In my opinion, cases like these are where the downvotes serve more as a mental health destroyer rather than decentralised content moderation.

So to answer your question, I think having the current as default would be better, I.e., option "Show". However, if you're open to refine this even further, I would suggest the 5-5% idea.

This is art, isn't it? I'm feeling so many emotions for this "old gaming rig" or whatever. Poor fella... :(. Hope they (the rig) survive a lot longer...

I've seen the following types of people:

  • People who ask how to do it, and get amazed.
  • People who legitimately are not bothered by ads.
  • Who think it to be a "headache", and to just "let it be".
  • Who are incredibly tech illiterate to the point of frustration.

The president of another country publicly saying, "we will annex you against your will", not once but hundreds of times itself is as threating if not more than military buildup.

We're so desentisized to Trump's ramblings, that we often forget that he's the PRESIDENT of the US. He wields immense power and can act on what he says (which he has done almost always).

A foreign power tells us that we'll be annexed. Their president repeatedly refers to our elected officials by names designated to non sovereign entities inside their country.

This foreign power funds and engages in a separatist movement within our country. How is this not an "act preparatory to war"?

These assholes should be locked up for high treason.

Note: Quebecois separatism is different. It's really stupid, but NOT TREASON. Why's that? It would be treason to conspire with a foreign power, and take actions to undermine the sovereignty of Canada.

Had Alberta separatism not had US involvement, it would not have been treason. It would just be a bunch of really stupid people using their democratic rights to act within what they feel is their interest.

But what is happening right now is exactly what happened to Ukraine.

If the current administration is really as "elbows up" as it claims to be, it should prosecute and shut down this US backed operation in Alberta. Not doing so could make us another Ukraine.

  • Nothing wrong with a service existing.
  • Racist to assume that only people belonging to a certain race use these apps.
  • The apps are exploitative, sure. Advocate for better labor regulations here.

This is the equivalent of saying "don't wanna make your own coffee? Go to Tim Hortons to be served by lower class Indians". Same message, but with the racism highlighted.

Gen Z here. Watched quite a lot of gay porn since around age 11.5-12. The only thing I remember confusing me was why penises "looked like that". In the sense, that they had a pink head, had a weird pyramid like spongy rubber-ey top and why they were so big.

Turns out, I was looking at cut cocks, and our school had removed all sex ed. The new syllabus just taught, "penis go in vagina -> woohooo congratulations -> babyyyyy". Oh also, on an unrelated note, our textbooks also said that cell phones make people selfish and autistic lmao (Science 2 textbook, SSC Maharashtra, 2020).

Anyway, I don't prefer video porn anymore cuz I find it very shallow. It's good, but feels like eating candy. Written smut on the other hand has a lot more depth. It's like eating a super rich fruit salad.

So do I think porn negatively affected me? I don't think so.

Mars is so incredibly useless from the point of view of advancing civilization.

We can do so much stuff on the moon a lot better than on Mars. In short, the moon is MEANT to be industrialised by us.

Here's a video, cuz I'm too lazy to type out everything. Also, sorry for the YouTube link. I don't think this fellow uploads anywhere else.

Also don't get me wrong. Mars is really cool as a scientific curiosity. It's just not suitable for advancing civilization yet.

I now am a believer in the many worlds hypothesis. Clearly we have seen very different movies.

I loved her in Dune. She made the character very believable.

THANK YOU SO FKIN MUCH.

AI is a new means of production. Our goal must be to sieze it, use it to improve the lives of all and improve its capabilities. Our goal should NOT be to fight the means of production itself.

I used to use brave when I just started becoming privacy aware. Here are the reasons why:

  • it's chromium based. I loved the way chromium based browsers looked, especially when compared to Firefox. They had a comforting feel to them, whereas Firefox had a very "office-ey" feel to it.
  • I wasn't aware of the issues of chromium dominating the market share that it does and how monopolization in this manner can be harmful.
  • I wasn't aware of the people behind brave.
  • I had seen older people use Firefox (with the default UI, which I didn't like). That's why, I associated Firefox with "old and outdated". I hadn't seen anyone use brave, and it looked quite good at the time for me.

Now, I use Mercury, a Firefox fork (ikik, it hasn't seen an update in a long time, shush). I've loaded it up with my custom CSS, so its appearance is exactly the way I like.
