What his channel is doing is providing insight into a different way to do things, a push for people to questions the status quo.

Except the impact of climate change isn’t at all like a car crash. In a car crash everything stays fine until it suddenly goes to shit. Which I think is one of the issues why people have such a hard time dealing with it.

Maybe we should think about it more like a sinking ship. We already got wet feet, which isn’t great but only the start and we really need to start shutting some bulk heads to keep the water from pouring in. Sure. Two issues though.

• Small trucks like they used to build a while ago would be better at pretty much all of those use cases than the monsters that get build today
• big trucks have become the default for people that never do any of those things

So as a result, there are way more way bigger vehicles on the road endangering all road users and wasting resources for no benefit besides lining the pockets of the manufacturers.

Sure, some places basically require personal transport. Some of it because it is really rural, some of it because it is build to require cars (which is something that can be changed, although it takes time). The problem with cars being the default for everything in everyones mind is just, that possible alternatives aren't even considered and thus even more car requirements are locked in for decades to come.

You can't get rid of cars, not everywhere and in many places not right now. But you have to start and look for alternative ways to manage things so you can reduce the need over time.

The trick is to build a system with good checks and balances and an informed populace willing to uphold those rules.

This doesn't look appetizing at all, however the amount doesn't seem that unrealistic for old people.
