As someone who works with timezones as a developer it doesnt really matter I don't think. Timezone are already kind of a mess of a concept and honestly I just want it tp stop changing, I don't really care which way.

I don't think they are necessarily saying the those protests were overall successful, more so the techniques mentioned worked to an some extent for them. Even if a movement overall fails, there are lessons to be learned from both the failures and successes of said movement.
