This really seems like a solution in search of a problem.
I can't imagine it'll be all that widespread at $3500 dollars.
Hey folks. Looks like I let this one get by so I'll leave it since there's already some discussion happening, but for the next few days please try to keep discussion of the Reddit situation in the megathread.
Hey, let's please keep posts about the Reddit situation to the megathread when possible. Thanks!
I really really like this idea. I think it's a perfect fit for the ethos of Beehaw and I would love to see it happen. It would be so nice to see folks doing good in whatever ways they can, where they are.
Hey @sparky, great article but it's already been posted several times. We're trying to keep discussion of current Reddit events contained to a megapost here to keep from being inundated with Reddit related news.
Hey, I don't think you were trying to be hurtful with this comment, but slurs - even when not directed at a user - don't really have a place in the type of community that we're trying to cultivate here.
I am really going to miss Sync most of all from this whole debacle. LJ has commented that he's toying with the idea of porting it over to Lemmy but I would be surprised if he's able to do it all that smoothly. Still, I can dream.
Based on the comments on this GitHub issue for the lemmy ui, this should be resolved in the next update.
Somebody posted this website today where you can explore/search for Lemmy instances and communities. It seems pretty nice but I haven't really used it a ton yet.
I don't disagree with you, but I still feel a certain responsibility to that community. I'd like to start divesting myself of that responsibility, but it'll take time if I don't want to just abandon it.
I'm probably going to delete my account or at least cut back drastically on my usage, but I'm currently the only active mod for a small fan sub for an old fantasy book series. I don't really want to leave that sub unmoderated but I'll have to find another user willing to take on mod duties before I feel alright abandoning Reddit altogether.
They're going to be so mad when they hear about gift bags...
Seriously though, this is really interesting, thanks for posting. Also, the term "Sausage Catastrophe" is...incredible.
That's what they pay me the big bucks for.
On the other hand, I think it's really nice that they are distinctive from the logos on other instances. It tells you at a glance that you are clicking on a post from Beehaw.org and to abide by Beehaw's mantra, whether you're a user from another instance subscribed to a Beehaw community or a Beehaw user looking at your Subscribed feed.
I would love a rotating logo like this. It would be awesome, and tbh why should we be concerned with branding? Why can't our brand be "kickass cowboy bee art"?
I've considered it, but honestly I'm kind of tired of it lol. It's an older series and so all of the arguments/discussions are just kind of retread endlessly, and I'm not as into it as I used to be. Also there are discussions about making a tv show and I wouldn't mind being as far away as possible once that kicks into high gear. I saw what r/WoT was like when that show came out and I don't want any part of moderating that crap.
A surprise, to be sure, but a welcome one...
Jokes aside, I was not expecting this ruling. Alabama's congressional districts don't look as egregious as some states mostly because there are fewer, but the 7th district is a particularly bad racial gerrymander, packing the overwhelmingly black parts of Montgomery and Birmingham into a single district.
This is rad. Gaslands has always seemed interesting to me both because of the cool spin on skirmish gameplay, plus all of the sick kitbashes for Gaslands cars. I've been trying to talk my buddy who is into tabletop games to get into it with me. I'm sure he'll cave eventually.
A lot of it has been over on the discord (and apparently the matrix server but I don't use matrix) and a few other places where lemmy is being discussed. Lots of well intentioned folks who really want to be part of the community or want an alternative to Reddit, but are uncomfortable with the software being associated with the people that it is associated with. I think people just want us to divest ourselves of that association but don't really understand that we're just a bunch of folks that wanted to start a cool, nice place to hang out (no shade at all to the ops folks who have been keeping things running through this wild ride the last few weeks, they're awesome) and we definitely don't have the expertise or desire to maintain the software it runs on.
thanks for using Leebra!
