Wow... So you are expected to feel ghosted/rejected 100 times a week, and upwards to 1500 in total? I wonder how healthy that must be for your psyche...

And it is with the good old "think of the children". They keep trying to sneak in legislation at EU level to kill privacy, I dread to see the day when it will pass (especially if at the next elections there will be a shift to the right)...

Nice article.

I feel though that, as many others, it compares the carbon footprint of production (panels and batteries) vs the footprint of burning only. By looking at the source of the carbon footprint, it seems that they take into account only the CO2 output of the energy factories, but extraction, transportation and storage has a non-negligible carbon footprint.

So how long before we hear about New York courtroom random sketch artists getting death threats?

If I understood anything about the MAGA people is that they are fast at getting angry but slow at understanding what they should be angry about...

It is still comically low... From 200k to 300k per year, regardless of whatever income they have, in the hope that coming to Italy they will "trickle down" their wealth (we know well how ridiculous that statement is).

The worst part is that it was made by a centre-right government masquerading as centre-left...

Sure, let's not vote for the person that dedicated years on studying history, sociology, economics and political science (or "social studies" if you prefer). Let's instead vote for the person that stepped on everyone's heads to make sure he and his company are successful! What could go wrong? Running a country is exactly the same as running a factory, no?

And I'm sorry that so many universities are heavily left-leaning. I'm sure that if the right stops burning books at every corner there would be more right-leaning universities (tho politics should always stay out of classes in my opinion).

Wow, something is very wrong in your setup if you get those kind of errors... Let alone the fact that you get it from those kind of models (Claude 4, Gemini...?) I mean, this days even a model that runs on a raspberry pi is capable of coherent responses...

Not that I disagree that you cannot trust an LLM or that it has massive energy and water issues, but damn those problems in your company's infrastructure are really next level!

"says the women who use these groups aren't doing anything wrong as long as what they're sharing is their opinion or the truth" what possibly could go wrong with that?

I understand the sentiment, creating a space where women could feel more safe when meeting with complete strangers by asking other woman. But this has so much potential for abuse that I cannot really see how it could have a positive impact. A crazy ex can already ruin the social life of a person by spreading lies to your inner circle (people of all genders are perfectly capable of this), but if this kind of things gain traction, they would be capable to remotely ruin any new attempt of creating a new life far away.

Super clickbait title, so in case you just want the conclusion here it is: "To my students and to anyone who might listen, I say: Don’t surrender to AI your ability to read, write and think when others once risked their lives and died for the freedom to do so."

But to anyone that might want stop at the title and the tl;dr, i highly recommend to take some time and read the article. It is a well written short story that talks about delegating critical thinking and problem solving to a cheap cop-out and philosophize about the disruptive effects of the technology for students.

And it has some memorable parts, like "The essays produced by ChatGPT, for instance, are soulless, boring abominations. Words, phrases and punctuation rarely used by the average college student — or anyone for that matter (em dash included) — are pervasive."

It looks promising, even though it is quite far away from becoming available to the general public.

Still I wish that there was more of a push for something like a contraceptive pill for men. It feels like it has been ignored for years and only now they are starting a bit with development and trials...

I don't know... I tried it in high school when I was bullied and it was not very effective. Though the one time I punched back one of them (quite ineffectively I must say, as I was way weaker then my counterpart) he indeed stopped bullying and we actually became almost friends in the end.

I know, it's an anecdote (one single instance in one single life) and you cannot translate easily high school dynamics with geopolitical ones, but sometimes it's possible to draw parallelism...

And from the voice of Lenin himself (used in a different context by him, but it works very well in this case for modern Russia): "You probe with bayonets: if you find mush, you push. If you find steel, you withdraw". If you find yourself at the other end of a bayonet, you better be wearing steel than going naked.

The opposition received 55% of votes all combined, while Law and Justice was the single party receiving the most votes. So effectively, unless all other parties would get together in a single big party (making a very different election), Law and Order would now be ruling Poland and instead the opposition parties formed a coalition.

Saving you a click:

Interestingly, Q1 2023, which Tesla is only releasing now, showed a significant decrease in miles driven between accidents compared to the same period for the year prior, which might explain why Tesla stopped releasing the data at that time.
