Thanks for the link. It does look pretty similar. Or maybe, it's the same after all. I don't know about the climatic conditions in China - it's vast and expansive. The climatic belt that I live in could well be called tropical, beneath the tropic of Cancer.

@slazer2au@lemmy.world l remember myspace, but just the name. Didn't hear of Elfpack and Bebos. I had an account on Orkut. I was in my mid teens then. Facebook happened later. In fact, Zuckerberg is as old as me. Even Durov is of the same age, maybe a year younger.

Most of the social media sites at that time was regional l believe. Google was just a search engine, while Yahoo was far more popular. I'm talking about the days of the internet explorer of the 90s.

@Lembot_0006@programming.dev the machines that l'm talking of have been lying idle since 15 years. I don't know their specifications, l expect the ram to be 4gb at the most, if not 2gb. I don't even expect it to be DDR3. I don't expect it to contain any GPU.

Initially, I would download MX Linux with xfce as the default de, and then l would gradually download evilwm, conky, vs codium and st along with zsh, fish, bash and dash would already be working.

That's how l'm envisioning my system at the moment.
