Did you specify a time when the dishes had to be washed and put away? It's obvious to you that it needs to be done before the next meal is prepared, but is it obvious to your partner? Do they typically help you with washing, cooking or putting away if dishes? Did they learn how cooking works as a child? I find it pretty likely that your partner would find it obvious if they thought about it, but most tasks don't require deep thought.

Now naturally you shouldn't really have to put a time limit on chores, but it is a lot harder to separate ignorance from malice if you don't have clear (and potentially documented) expectations.

Is this company public? The company I work for was like that pre IPO. And then it got a bit worse afterwards but we still got good answers to hard questions at all hands. That lasted for idk 3 years? But now 6-7 years later our all hands have been reorganized to split them up, people who used to ask the hard questions were let go or encountered to leave etc.

This isn't a great take. If Congress paid poorly only rich people (or their minions) would be able to afford the job. If Congress paid really well, like as well as engineering or banking, then people would be more heavily incentived to compete for the slot by getting better education, or by desiring the role in the first place. Since a lot of well educated highly qualified people are working elsewhere bc it is better pay and conditions, you can tell which reality we are already in.

Peter also had a great legacy of modernization and westernization to Russia. Nearly every political leader has a complex legacy. People do a lot of things good and ill in their lifetimes.
