The name tungsten hexafluoride is one that most people have never heard of.

But it has a less romantic nickname——"Chip blood"

Less romantic, but definitely more awesome.

It’s what the other commenter said. Generally if you’re a good customer they refund you no questions asked.

I actually had a food delivery guy drop off my food but steal a package from my porch. Even with the footage, you should have seen how fast they clammed up.

So food theft, no problem. Other theft “get a subpoena”.

No. I don’t think I will.

“If you have ever petted a shark in an aquarium touch tank,” said Erin Dillon, who began this study as an intern at the Smithsonian Tropical Research Institute (STRI) and is now wrapping up her doctoral work at the University of California, Santa Barbara, “denticles are the reason why shark skin is rough like sandpaper if you rub it in one direction yet smooth in the other direction. Sharks are essentially covered by millions of tiny teeth.”

This is “country crock” which is a brand of American margarine. The meme is showing them eating the oxidized top layer.

I dare not say how I found it. The rabid masses will track me down because I used forbidden technology.

You said it hasn’t materially changed software development, I’m showing how it has from a cyber security angle. I’m also half replying to others which is why it’s not directly connected. I got massively shit on and wanted to reply but I’m not really interested in replying to each specific comment calling me a fucking idiot.

And no. I didn’t. I read and write all my own comments.

Coding.

As a life long software developer, the speed at which I can build things is increasing significantly with AI. I’m not talking about vibe coding specifically, but even for maintaining existing projects, it’s a pretty powerful tool.

This is me. Always Windows for my gaming computer and when I built a new one recently, I went full Linux. No regrets so far.

If you’re curious how but don’t want to read, I skimmed and it seems like overzealous privacy/permission warnings are at the heart of their complaints. I’d agree, it’s annoying but I prefer it to the alternative.

Creative cloud wanted to run at login, and in the old days, it would just make that happen. Now it implores YOU to turn on the setting because it cannot. That’s a win in my book.

I kind of feel like Reddit is the biggest bar in the world and having a conversation there feels like it. If you aren’t loud and early, you can’t really participate in a meaningful way. The smaller crowd of Lemmy is a sweet spot for me. Enough people that it’s not dead, but small enough that I can still participate in conversations.

Can we take a second and appreciate the person who got these messages and took them to the media? Putting myself in their shoes, I’d be scared shitless and you can easily see how it might make you a target. Good on you random citizen, I appreciate you.

A Russian citizen living in America who supported Ukraine by donating money to them was warned by her partner that going back wouldn’t be safe. She said “nah, it’ll be fine” and was arrested shortly after in Russia.

This is very sad, but you didn’t know they’d be mad about that?
