I love all the comments saying "yeah well that stuff isn't free someone has to maintain it"

YOU'RE PAYING 100K FOR A FUCKING CAR

That's the payment. That's what they get their money from.

Wanting more in perpetuity is fucking stupid no matter what the excuse is.

I didn't stop to greet some customers as I walked in with a cane for the third week in a row due to nerve damage.

I wasn't on the clock, we didn't have a uniform, no name tag, nobody would even know I work there until I put my shit on after I clock in.

By that time I had made it a habit of recording every interaction with management, so I just pulled out my phone, hit the record button, and asked "so to be clear, are you officially reprimanding me for NOT doing work off the clock?" and that immediately shut him up.

Managers get awfully pensive when they have recording devices capturing them.

They joke, but I legitimately know people whose parents were the super Christian "any book about controversial topics is the devil and so are video games and TV" to the point where when she found out her daughter had Harry potter book, she burned every book of hers that wasn't directly religious.

Well guess who decided to "give them a try" since "the author clearly has the right ideas about life" since all her children are out of the house and the only ones who bother visiting are the two with kids (who would never admit it but they're only there for free babysitting and future help) and one who just doubled down into the religion despite witnessing the same bullshit as her siblings....

So yeah, this may have been intended as a joke, but they're closer to the truth than they might know.

My now wife dropped her single status 7 times in the first conversation we ever had. So I asked her to go hiking with me. She agreed for some reason. Strange person she just met asking her to go alone in the woods with no one around?

My dad thinks climate change is a scam and "someone [i]s making a lot of money from it"

My dad also laments that the local lake doesn't freeze over like it did when he was a teenager, DRIVING on top of it with his brothers.

Totally unrelated to climate change though. Cause that's totes fake.

Also storms are more violent and frequent, winters are basically spring 2.0 now and the local river has flooded way past historic levels and could threaten the downtown area of their city within the decade.

But all that is SOOOOOOO unrelated.

Well, I'm glad I didn't end up buying it last week like I wanted to. I decided to wait another paycheck instead.

Saved me wasting time or money.

Honestly people shit on review-bombing over specific incidents but this is the kind of thing that 100% deserves it.

In highschool, a girl I fancied asked if we could play the awkward game, where the point is to make the other person feel awkward and bail.

Well her first two moves were taking off her bra under her shirt, pulling it out through the neck, and throwing it at me, and then sitting on my lap facing me.

I still did not get the hint.

I found out a few years later when she was going off to college and we were chilling on the couch reminiscing. No chance by then though for either of us.

Remember, when you ask yourself "how could you not understand that", people like me exist.

I once played 3 hours of modern warfare 2 with the same group back in the day, just because some guy was pouring out his life story and how much life sucked for him around the time. He sent me a quick "thanks for letting me rant" message and I didn't hear from him again for years.

Then out of the blue I get a message that's basically a letter, and it's all about how life was difficult but some random person taking the time to listen without judgment made all the difference for his plans that night.

So I will never cut someone off to tell them I don't have time to listen to their problems, or pull out my phone to play a game, get annoyed with someone who won't stop talking, whatever... Sometimes all a person needs is someone to listen.

Lpt: DO NOT ASK A PERSON IF THEY HAVE FOUND A JOB YET

If they have and you're important enough to them, you'll know when they tell you. If they haven't told you, either it's none of your GODDAMN BUSINESS or they're still looking.

You asking just reminds them they don't have a job. And if they've been looking for awhile, it's even worse. Especially if you actually said "yet" or added in some other "it's been awhile" modifier.

Hey remember when a judge doing something shady would get the state bars and other judges involved?

I'm only in my 30s but I remember.

I also remember a time when something as simple as a lie will lead to impeachment.

Now we have president's who start lying before they even hit the campaign trail, lie while being elected NOT by the people, lie while in office and literally do federal crimes in the process, lie with more federal crimes after you lose an election, lie with more federal crimes including treason before the group tells you you lost, lie after you leave, and do tons more crimes

And it takes FOUR FUCKING YEARS JUST FOR PEOPLE WHO EVEN DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT

And what even more insane is that nobody seems to care. Sure they post all angrily about it but ultimately do nothing.

Unions work in jobs, unions will also be quite effective at ousting fascists. You just have to find the right union that won't get taken out by the Alphabet Boyz. Unfortunately history shows that any time progressives gather and arm, the government trips over itself to criminalize everything and throw them in prison. Sure doesn't seem like it happens to as many racist, sexist, homo/transphobic, fascist extremists who form their own groups. Guess the cops don't like arresting their own people.

The people who blabber incessantly about weed being a gateway drug are the exact REASON that I agree with them, but we VERY much disagree on the specifics.

Think of it this way:

Every adult in your life has told you that weed is JUST AS BAD as heroin and cocain and meth. You hear it repeated ad nauseum, ESPECIALLY if you were in DARE.

Now one day someone you have known for a long time offers you some because "it's not that bad, trust me you'll be fine" and they go ahead and take a puff or twelve. Turns out it's not that bad. They were fine after some initial uncoordinated attempts at doing something.

So if weed is this interesting, maybe heroin isn't that bad either?

Yeah turns out heroin IS that bad, and lumping it in with weed is like tossing the kindergarten bully into a maxsec prison.

So yeah, it's only a "gAtEwAy dRuG" because you fucks lied for decades and made false equivalence of things and taught kids they can't trust you.

Then they tell you the previous person was incompetent or something to try and make it seem like they were a bad employee, not that it's a bad work environment.

"Oh? And who was in charge of their interview?" because unless they have a large hr department to handle hiring interviews, it was probably the person who hired you.

This is when you take notes in your notebook you should have brought with you.

I've noticed interviewers get visibly uncomfortable when I write in my notebook. It's like they're either trying to figure out if they just lied about something I will be able to reference later, or they just get that natural "someone is writing about me and I can't read what it is" feeling, I assume the former.

Simon Pegg wasn't lying in Hot Fuzz. The notebook is a powerful weapon if used right.

Barely?

In my experience ops don't know shit. It's all about "gut feelings". "Well "his feels illegal so I'm gonna arrest them and if I'm wrong I get to sit at my desk all day or go on a paid vacation" is how it is.

I can't tell you how many times I've been stopped by cops for riding my bicycle on the road. Literally to the point where I have a laminated card I keep in my wallet with the relevant laws saying "this bike is illegal on a sidewalk and cars must give way on the road"

I've had a few threaten to arrest me "for being a piece of shit" or "for wasting my time" like I'm the one who made them stop...

I've been stopped because I "fit a description" multiple times, the "description" being "man on a bike" with nothing else, supposedly.

I've been stopped for speeding in a school zone before, and if it wouldn't have been a waste of time, I'd have let it go to court and showed my helmet camera video that clearly shows my phone GPS as well as cycling computer (glorified speedometer) readout that clearly shows I was well under 25. Granted I've gone 49 in a 45 for about 3 seconds before I realized one rock and I'm dead and slowed down, there's 0 chance of me speeding past 20 on flat ground unless I'm trying to set a personal best.

I've been stopped for "being a road hazard", not having enough reflective things, having "too many lights" (one forward flasher, one steady, and one rear/one steady rear light), not signaling "and hand signals don't count anymore" lol OK...

Pretty much whatever they feel like stopping you for, they'll stop you and come up with a half-assed excuse later. They don't know the laws they enforce, and if they did, they would be considered a liability to other cops and quickly be ejected.

"is a lengthy time consuming process"

No, it REALLY isn't, and any pig that tells you otherwise is trying to get you to drop the issue so they don't have more paperwork.

They don't give a shit about your stolen items, and 9/10 times it's a complete waste to even contact them over "petty theft", regardless of how valuable the item/s are to you.

The people involved in The Good One know historical armor, and how it's supposed to fit, while also knowing how to blend in the fantasy elements that make them pop

The New One just wants to look pretty, while clearly having vastly underestimated the needed budget to make good costumes.

Honestly, I think I've seen some repainted Spirit Halloween stuff.

Granted, a good prop/costume department can make anything cheap look good. I've seen a lot of plumbing parts attached to Sci fi guns. (some ship guns are literally entirely plumbing parts with vfx lasers done in post)

I'd love to see a total breakdown of the expenses. I'd wager the costume department is one of the lowest on the list.

LPT: If you want armor that allows proper motion, you need sliding joints, or narrow areas with less protection. The chest piece should not be flat across the bottom, nor should it come down to your waist. You can't bend properly with the one on the right. Range of motion on the arms is also severely limited, which makes combat basically a death sentence for you since you literally can't move your arms to block high.

Boromir on the other hand, everything allows for greater range of motion. The chest piece flares out once it goes a little past the ribcage, which while probably wouldn't win you any yoga competitions, allows you to bend and ride a horse. The pauldrons are oversized to cover the thinner shoulder straps, so the arms can rotate up properly, and the armor around all the joints slides nicely over itself.

Once you know how to make GOOD armor, you start realizing a lot of modern movies just clearly have no consideration for it. It's all about what looks cool to the average person.

Skallagrim on youtube has some breakdowns of historic accuracy in movies, but he usually focuses on the combat itself. Though every point I've brought up comes up in one way or another during combat.

Ding ding

I don't care if you used automation to ease a menial task. That's basically half the reason TO automate things.

I DO care if you can't even be arsed to read what the automation spit out to fact check.
